On the evening of September 18, at the Government Headquarters, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Deputy Director General of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kenji Okamura, who is leading the IMF working delegation, to visit and work in Vietnam.
Welcoming IMF Deputy General Director Kenji Okamura and the IMF working delegation to visit and work in Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh believes that the working trip will continue to contribute to further strengthening the good relationship between the two sides in the coming time.
The Prime Minister said that in the coming time, Vietnam will continue to focus on large-scale infrastructure projects such as: Standard railway lines connecting with China and Central Asia, Europe; nuclear energy and clean energy such as LNG gas, solar power, wind power; participating in the ASEAN power grid; North-South high-speed railway; fuel projects; continuing to promote the development of the high-speed railway system; building cultural, physical education, and sports institutions, with large exhibition centers and stadiums, reaching international standards.
Vietnam identifies internal resources as basic, long-term, and decisive, while mobilizing external resources is important and breakthrough. Including attracting direct and indirect investment; mobilizing support for cooperation in technology development; reforming institutions; training human resources; smart governance.
Appreciating the increasingly close and substantial cooperation between Vietnam and the IMF, the Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam always appreciates the IMF's active and effective support in the process of innovation, opening up, and integrating internationally, contributing significantly to strengthening macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, promoting growth, as well as improving the capacity to manage and operate the macro economy.
IMF Deputy General Director Kenji Okamura said that the IMF working delegation to Vietnam this time aims to learn more about and learn more about Vietnam's successful path, while promoting the long-standing relationship between the IMF and Vietnam, through specific, practical and effective activities and projects.
Sharing and discussing with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issues in managing macroeconomic policies, mobilizing finance for large projects and programs and controlling public debt, Deputy General Director of IMF Kenji said that the IMF, with its prestige, will have a voice with international financial institutions, helping Vietnam mobilize external resources for large programs and projects.
Believing that the good relationship between Vietnam and the IMF will continue to be strengthened and promoted in the coming time, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the IMF continue to provide policy advice and warn of risks to Vietnam; strengthen cooperation, technical assistance and human resource training for Vietnam; implement programs to support Vietnam to adapt to new international economic conditions; have a voice for investors and sponsors to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam.
