The conference was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia; Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi and leaders of ministries, branches and localities.

To date, 4 Party agencies under the Central Government have been reduced; 25 Party executive committees; 16 Party delegations under the Central Government; 5 National Assembly agencies; 5 ministries and 3 agencies under the Government; 30 units at the general department level; 1,025 units at the department level, department level and equivalent; 4,413 units at the department level, department level and equivalent; 240 public service units.

In localities, up to now, 466 departments and equivalent levels have been reduced; 644 delegations, party delegations and party executive committees; 3,984 department-level and equivalent units; 27 party committees at the direct superior level and grassroots party organizations. In the locality, the decrease in the number is also impressive, demonstrating the strong determination of the political system.

Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that the merger of provinces needs to be carried out on a scientific and comprehensive basis, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, while considering the specific factors of each locality.

The merger is not only to streamline the apparatus but also to create new development space, promote comparative advantages and improve the quality of service to the people" - Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department emphasized.

According to Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee Nguyen Trong Nghia, the Central Committee has proposed 3-4 options to discuss the number of provinces and communes after the merger, and this process will be carried out publicly and transparently, with the participation of the people's opinions.

Speaking at the conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thanh Nghi said that in 2024, Ho Chi Minh City will maintain a strong growth momentum with GRDP increasing by 7.17%, budget revenue reaching more than VND508,000 billion (up 13.3%), contributing 27% of the total revenue of the country, exports reaching nearly 47 billion USD (up 10.4%).

Ho Chi Minh City has implemented many activities towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day. The city pays attention to taking care of people's lives, especially policy families and poor households.

To date, 333/346 houses of gratitude have been completed, repaired and newly built 575/500 houses of love, and renovated martyrs cemeteries and memorial sites.

In addition, Ho Chi Minh City has implemented 61 key programs, projects and works in six areas, including 50 typical works. Industries and localities also registered nearly 2,000 emulation programs and projects to celebrate the 50th anniversary of national reunification.
