Overcoming the consequences of traffic accidents in Nghe An and Hanoi

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just signed Official Dispatch No. 01/CD-TTg of the Prime Minister directing the handling of the consequences of two particularly serious traffic accidents.

Telegrams sent to the Ministers of Public Security, Transport; National Traffic Safety Committee; Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee; Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee.

The content of the telegram clearly states:

At 5:00 p.m. on January 12, 2025, a particularly serious traffic accident occurred in Nam Can commune, Ky Son district, Nghe An province when a truck with license plate 37C-537.03 lost control and crashed into a house, resulting in 6 deaths. At 4:00 a.m. on January 13, 2025, a particularly serious traffic accident occurred on Vo Nguyen Giap street, Hanoi city when a truck with license plate 98C-308.16 crashed into a motorbike going in the same direction, resulting in 3 deaths.

Immediately upon receiving information about the accidents, the Prime Minister directed to send condolences to the relatives and families of the deceased victims; encourage and visit the injured victims in the accident; and at the same time directed the leaders of Nghe An province, Hanoi city and the police force to go to the scene to direct the overcoming of consequences and visit the victims in the accident.

To overcome the consequences and prevent similar traffic accidents, the Prime Minister requested:

The Minister of Public Security directed the Traffic Police Department and the Public Security of units and localities to increase patrols and control of automobiles, especially trucks and large passenger vehicles before, during and after the Lunar New Year of At Ty, strictly handling violations according to the law, especially violations of road sections, lanes, illegal overtaking, violations of alcohol concentration, speeding, carrying more people than prescribed, etc.;

Together with the highway management unit, take timely measures to handle cases of stopping vehicles on the highway, including stopping vehicles due to vehicle problems to prevent traffic accidents; coordinate with the Ministry of Transport and People's Committees of centrally-run cities to organize traffic scientifically and reasonably to promptly overcome traffic congestion, especially in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee and the Chairman of the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee directed local agencies and functional units to arrange all medical conditions and medicines to treat the victims, minimizing damage to people and property; organize visits, support and encourage the families of the victims in the above accidents; at the same time, promptly clarify violations of related organizations and individuals to strictly handle them according to the provisions of law.

The Minister of Transport directed the Vietnam Road Administration to continue to coordinate with relevant agencies to review and strengthen reasonable traffic organization on roads with high traffic density, roads with steep slopes, etc. to ensure traffic safety and avoid traffic congestion; directed the units managing and exploiting expressways to take immediate measures to respond to cases of stopping and parking on expressways to ensure traffic safety, especially before, during and after the Lunar New Year holiday.
