On the afternoon of March 14, the People's Committee of Kien Giang province held a launching ceremony for the APEC Summit Week preparation in Phu Quoc.
Speaking at the ceremony, Party Central Committee member and Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized: Preparing to successfully organize the APEC 2027 Summit Week is an important political task of the Government, the Prime Minister, central and local ministries, branches. With the drastic participation of the entire political system and people, Vietnam will successfully complete this task, leaving a deep impression in the hearts of international friends on a peaceful, dynamic, integrated and responsible Vietnam.
The Deputy Prime Minister hopes and requests that leaders of Kien Giang province, Phu Quoc city as well as leaders of ministries, departments, branches and central organizations continue to implement, must prepare very carefully, ensuring absolute safety.
It is necessary to do a good job of investment preparation and site clearance for projects; There must be a specific mechanism, and if there are difficulties and problems during the implementation process, Phu Quoc will work with Phu Quoc to resolve them. Will promote investment promotion, attract domestic and international strategic investors to have enough potential and capacity to participate in infrastructure and service projects to serve the APEC summit. The first step is APEC 2027 and in the long term is to serve Phu Quoc's socio-economic development process.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha suggested: Urgently review and determine that the invested projects are qualified to serve APEC to have a plan to renovate and improve quality, ensuring the highest standards when organizing APEC on aesthetics, energy saving, harmony with the environment, natural landscape, in accordance with the cultural identity of Phu Quoc, of Vietnam to become a highlight for the development of Phu Quoc.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha also expressed his confidence that with the close and drastic participation of the Government, the Prime Minister, central ministries and branches and the outstanding efforts of the Party Committee, government, army and people of Phu Quoc, we have every basis to complete the assigned work. We are determined to successfully aim for APEC 2027 to leave a deep impression on friends, leaders of APEC member economies, and world friends about a peace-friendly Vietnam with dynamic integration, a beautiful, unique Phu Quoc, and an attractive destination on the world tourism map.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee - said: The APEC 2027 event is a very valuable opportunity, a breakthrough, opening the way for the strong development of "Phu Quoc in the new era - the era of national growth". This is not only an opportunity to elevate Phu Quoc's international position and promote its image, but also an important driving force to promote the development of key economic sectors such as tourism, trade, services, etc.
The People's Committee of Kien Giang province also said that Phu Quoc will expand international airports and An Thoi seaports, build works to serve international-level events such as APEC Avenue, APEC multi-functional complex... In particular, the city focuses on investing in water and waste treatment systems. Two domestic waste treatment plants will be built in the South and East of the island, with modern technology to ensure a clean environment.
