On the morning of September 15, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong visited and attended the opening ceremony of the new school year 2025-2026 at the National Defense Academy.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, President Luong Cuong stated that after nearly 50 years of construction and development, the National Defense Academy has trained tens of thousands of senior military officers; fostered national defense and security knowledge for thousands of senior officers of the Party, State, and armed forces; trained hundreds of doctors, masters of military science, and hundreds of senior military officers from a number of countries; organized many international defense officer training courses for students from 34 countries around the world.
To effectively perform its functions and tasks in the new era, the President suggested that the National Defense Academy should regularly update new knowledge of military science, especially modern combat methods, multi-regional warfare, high-tech warfare, cyber war, ... theories and practices on national defense in the context of complicated traditional and non-traditional security;
At the same time, closely following the practical military - defense and security tasks of the country, closely linking rapid and sustainable socio-economic development with firmly ensuring national defense and security in all situations, especially attaching importance to the process of implementing the arrangement of the local government apparatus at two levels.
Along with that, the President emphasized the need to promote scientific research, strategic consultation, and development of Vietnamese military arts; thoroughly grasp and effectively organize the implementation of Resolution 57 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in the development of science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation;
Do a good job of summarizing practices, developing military theory, national defense, and security, especially in defending the Fatherland early and from afar; do not let the country be passive or surprised in strategy in any situation; maximize the combined strength of the country with the strength of the times in building and defending the Fatherland.
The President emphasized that the Academy needs to improve the quality of defense diplomacy activities and expand international cooperation; Cooperation activities need to be diverse, closely and vividly combining exchanges and knowledge sharing with promoting the image and position of the country, people, and defense policies of peace, self-defense, and justice of Vietnam; affirming Vietnam's bravery, intelligence, and prestige in the international arena.
Regarding the leadership and direction of the organization to build the National Defense Academy into an advanced, modern, leading strategic academy in the region, with international prestige and influence, the President said that it is necessary to build a truly clean, strong, exemplary Academy Party Committee in terms of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres. Each cadre, Party member, lecturer, and scientist of the Academy must be a shining example of political courage, moral qualities, intelligence, and practical capacity; pioneering in ideology, creativity in action, steadfastly protecting the Party's ideological foundation and inspiring students with their own personality, knowledge, and responsibility.
The President believes that the National Defense Academy will successfully complete its tasks for the 2025-2026 school year, continuing to be a locomotive for innovation in the field of education and training, creating the image of a leading strategic Academy in the region, with international prestige, making an important contribution to the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
