The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that upon hearing that storm No. 3 ( storm Yagi ) made landfall in Vietnam on September 6-7, 2024, causing heavy damage to the lives and property of the Vietnamese people, on September 9, 2024, General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith and Prime Minister of Laos Sonexay Siphandone jointly sent messages of condolences to General Secretary and President To Lam and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
In the telegram, the Lao high-ranking leaders sent their sincere regards and deep condolences to the Vietnamese high-ranking leaders, as well as to the Party, Government and People of Vietnam, especially the authorities and families of the victims affected by this natural disaster; at the same time, they expressed their belief that under the leadership and close attention of the Party and Government of Vietnam from the central to local levels, the Vietnamese people will overcome all difficulties, and the lives of the people and areas affected by natural disasters will soon stabilize and return to normal.
On September 9, General Secretary and President To Lam also sent a letter of condolences to the people and soldiers affected by storm No. 3. General Secretary and President To Lam hopes and deeply believes that: "The entire people and army under the leadership of the Party will strongly promote the tradition of patriotism, the spirit of "self-reliance, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-strengthening, national pride", and will definitely soon overcome the consequences of the storm, quickly stabilize the lives of the people. At the same time, he requested that Party committees and authorities at all levels from the central to grassroots levels urgently organize reviews, draw lessons, and propose tasks and solutions to minimize damage caused by natural disasters in the coming time".
