On April 16, the Executive Committee of the Party Committee of Lao Cai province held a conference on the plan of arranging administrative units at the commune level in the area.

At the Conference, Mr. Nguyen Van Minh, Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Lao Cai Province presented a report on the plan of proposing the arrangement of commune -level administrative units in the province.

After the arrangement and merger, Lao Cai province is expected to decrease from 153 communes, wards and townships to 48 communes and wards.

In particular, Bao Thang district has 5 communes; Lao Cai city 4 communes and wards (2 communes and 2 wards); Bat Xat 7 communes; Bao Yen 6 communes; Van Ban 8 communes; Sa Pa town 6 communes and wards; Bac Ha 6 communes; Si Ma Cai 2 communes and Muong Khuong 4 communes. The reduction of commune level of Lao Cai province reached 68.22%.

The plan of arranging administrative units at the commune level in the province has been approved by the Provincial Standing Committee and the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee for the Project of arranging administrative units in the province.

The organization of the conference to collect opinions of the Provincial Party Executive Committee and approve the Resolution of the Conference as a basis for asking people's opinions in the province on the arrangement of administrative units at commune level in the coming time.

Ensuring the commune level will go into operation at the latest on August 15, the provincial level goes into operation at the latest on September 15.
