On the morning of December 9, continuing the program of the 10th Session, Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court Nguyen Van Quang presented a report on the work of the People's Court in 2025.
Regarding the results of handling and trying all types of cases, Chief Justice Nguyen Van Quang said that the Courts have accepted 683,341 cases, resolved and tried 618,341 cases, reaching a rate of 90.49%, 0.77% higher than the previous year.
The rate of judgments and decisions canceled or amended due to subjective reasons is 0.69%, 0.08% lower than the previous year and meeting the requirements set forth in the National Assembly Resolution.
Regarding the settlement and trial of criminal cases, the Courts have settled and tried 98.63% of cases and 97.38% of defendants, 0.45% higher than the previous year in terms of the number of cases and 0.56% in terms of the number of defendants, exceeding 10.63% of the target of the National Assembly Resolution.
"The trial of criminal cases must ensure strictness, the right people, the right crimes, and the right laws. Many cases under the Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption, waste and negativity have been strictly handled and monitored and directed, which have been highly appreciated by public opinion," Chief Justice Nguyen Van Quang stated.
Regarding the settlement and trial of civil cases, the Courts have settled and tried a rate of 88.64%, 1.13% higher than the previous year and exceeding the National Assembly Resolution target by 10.64%.
Effectively carry out mediation work; do a good job of guiding the subjects to fulfill their obligations to provide evidence and documents of the case; strengthen coordination with relevant agencies to resolve the case well.
As of September 30, 2025, there are no more cases that have been postponed due to subjective reasons.
The settlement of the petition for review by the director, the Supreme People's Court and the High People's Courts has reached a rate of 64.22%, exceeding 4.22% compared to the National Assembly Resolution.
In addition to positive results, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court also frankly acknowledged that the activities of the Courts still have some shortcomings and limitations.
Accordingly, there are still some judgments and decisions that have been canceled or amended due to subjective reasons; human resources, facilities, and working equipment of some units and courts have not met the requirements of work, especially for regional People's Courts.
Some civil servants have not strictly followed public service discipline, leading to violations of the law and regulations of the industry. The implementation of some projects is slower than planned due to the need to review and adjust them to suit the organizational structure and functions after the arrangement.

Regarding the trial and settlement of criminal cases, the cases are basically brought to trial within the prescribed time limit; the trial rate reached 98.63%, exceeding the National Assembly's prescribed rate of 10.63%.
The basic trial is guaranteed to be strict and in accordance with the law. The quality of the trial is guaranteed, no cases of wrongful convictions of innocent people have been detected; the rate of judgments and decisions being canceled or amended due to subjective reasons meets the requirements of the National Assembly.
