US Congressman impressed by Vietnam's strong development

On March 20, at the National Assembly House, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man received US Senator Steven David Daines, who is visiting Vietnam.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man welcomed Sen. Steven David Daines to visit Vietnam in the year of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and in the second year of implementing the comprehensive strategic partnership framework.

The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that in its foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, openness, multilateralization, diversification, proactiveness and active international integration, Vietnam attaches importance to its relationship with the US, hoping that the relationship between the two countries will maintain a positive, increasingly substantial and in-depth development momentum.

The National Assembly Chairman highly appreciated the support of the National Assembly and US lawmakers for the development of bilateral relations in recent years, and suggested that the Senate continue to pay attention to promoting cooperation between the two sides, enhancing exchanges and contacts at high and all levels, including the two countries' National Assemblies, promoting cooperation in areas such as economy, trade and investment, science and technology, energy, overcoming the consequences of war, for the benefit of the people and businesses of the two countries, for peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

Senator Steven David Daines expressed his pleasure at visiting Vietnam for the first time and was honored to be the first US Congressman to visit Vietnam in 2025, impressed by the strong development of Vietnam and the friendliness and hospitality of the Vietnamese people.

Senator Steven David Daines affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner of the US in the region, thanked the Vietnamese leaders for their attention to the development of bilateral relations, highly appreciated the achievements of bilateral relations over the past 30 years and expressed optimism about the future of Vietnam - US relations in the coming time.

Senator Steven David Daines agreed with the proposals of the National Assembly Chairman on promoting bilateral relations, pledging to continue to contribute to the development of Vietnam - US relations, enhance exchange activities and visits of National Assembly members of the two countries, expand and deepen bilateral economic, trade and investment cooperation, including Montana with localities in Vietnam.
