US Congressman thanks Vietnamese law enforcement

The US Senate thanked the cooperation of Vietnam's law enforcement forces in drug prevention efforts, especially the above-mentioned synthetic drug.

On March 20, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received US Senator Steven David Daines.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the reception, General Secretary To Lam welcomed Sen. Steven David Daines for his first visit to Vietnam, saying that the visit is of great significance, contributing to promoting the good development of Vietnam - US relations.

The General Secretary affirmed that the US is one of Vietnam's leading important partners, welcoming the US to continue to strengthen cooperation with Vietnam, supporting Vietnam as " Strength, independent, self-reliant, and prosperous".

General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the development of bilateral relations over the past 30 years, saying that the Vietnam - US relationship is a model in international relations.

The General Secretary acknowledged the good results achieved since upgrading the framework of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, from politics, diplomacy, economics, trade and investment to education and training, culture and people-to-people exchange.

The General Secretary outlined a number of orientations to promote the potential of the relationship between the two sides in the coming time. The economy, trade and investment need to continue to be an important pillar of bilateral relations, continue efforts to resolve the consequences of war, expand and strengthen cooperation to areas where the US has strengths and Vietnam has needs such as science and technology, innovation, energy, pharmaceuticals, and agriculture.

The General Secretary expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the National Assembly and the two Republican and Democratic Parties in the US for supporting the development of bilateral relations, and suggested that Senator Steven David Daines continue to support and promote cooperation between the two sides to continue to develop more harmoniously, sustainably, effectively and substantially in the coming time.

Senator Steven David Daines sincerely thanked General Secretary To Lam for taking the time to visit the delegation, expressed his impression and congratulated Vietnam on its development achievements in recent years.

Senator Steven David Daines recalled the phone call between General Secretary To Lam and President Donald Trump shortly after Mr. Trump was elected President in November 2024, assessing that the phone call affirmed President Trump's message of attaching importance to relations with Vietnam and Vietnam's priority position in the strategy of the Trump administration for the region.

Senator Steven David Daines agreed with the General Secretary's orientations on bilateral relations, emphasizing the desire to strengthen bilateral relations in all fields, especially economy, trade, including agricultural products, and energy cooperation.

The Senator thanked the cooperation of Vietnam's law enforcement forces in drug prevention efforts, especially the above-mentioned synthetic drug; hoped to continue cooperating with Vietnam in this field as well as in preventing illegal migration.

The Senator affirmed that he would soon convey General Secretary To Lam's greetings and visits to President Donald Trump and continue to contribute to the development of Vietnam - US relations in the coming time.
