Theoretical work has a particularly important position in the revolutionary cause
On June 9, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary and President To Lam chaired a working session with the Central Theoretical Council (Council) for the 2026-2031 term on deploying tasks in the coming time.

Concluding the working session, General Secretary and President To Lam emphasized that theoretical work has a particularly important position in the revolutionary cause.
General Secretary and President To Lam requested the Council to closely coordinate with relevant agencies and units to promote the standing role of the Steering Committee and the Editorial Board in summarizing 100 years of the Party leading the Vietnamese revolution and 40 years of implementing the Platform.
This is a very important political and theoretical task; it is necessary to urgently complete the detailed outline, summary methods, survey mechanisms, seminars, exchanges; assign work, products and progress; link the Central summary with localities, sectors, and fields.
On the basis of inheriting existing works, developing and elevating them into new arguments to serve the country's development strategy, especially in the coming time.

Studying new theoretical issues of the era and the urgency of the country
General Secretary and President To Lam stated clearly that the 14th Party Congress has identified important strategic decisions that are being actively implemented, determined to successfully implement the two 100-year goals. To practically serve the leadership and direction of the Central Government, the Politburo, and the Secretariat, and to implement the contents of the 14th Party Congress Resolution.
General Secretary and President To Lam proposed that the Council should study more deeply about socialism, the model and path to socialism in Vietnam in the changing conditions of the times, especially building socialist localities, the transition period and new factors forming in practice.
The Council needs to focus on researching new theoretical issues of the era and the urgent needs of the country, especially the development model of Vietnam in the new era; rapid and sustainable development institutions; modern and constructive national governance; strategic autonomy associated with international integration; the overall impact of digital transformation, green transformation, energy transformation, structural transformation, human resources and governance; national overall strength, Vietnam's soft power; new forms of competition and conflict and international development experience.

The Council needs to proactively review and participate in standardizing, clarifying and developing the system of concepts, categories, and theoretical language of the Party in the new period.
The Council needs to pay more attention to deeper research on ruling ethics, ruling culture and power control in the context that our Party is a leading and ruling party; it is necessary to clarify new standards on exemplary responsibility, integrity, service, discipline, order, accountability, the relationship between power and responsibility, between leadership and serving the people; thereby contributing to building a truly clean and strong Party, on par with the requirements of leading the country in the new era.
Agreeing with the policy of forming a Network of political theory scientific research and organizing a National Conference on theoretical research work, the General Secretary and President requested that it must be substantive, effective, avoiding formality; clearly defining tasks, ordering mechanisms, sharing research results; flexible and effective research groups are needed. The National Conference must become a prestigious annual scientific forum for academic exchange and policy suggestions.
The General Secretary and President requested to study more deeply the tradition of the Party's theoretical work; it is necessary to innovate the way of summarizing practice in the direction of selecting a number of localities, sectors, fields, and new models for long-term monitoring, considering them as "practical laboratories" of theoretical work, closely following the formation and operation process, thereby discovering new factors, new issues, new contradictions, and new lessons.
Theory must be nurtured from vivid practice, tested in practice and return to lead practice to develop.
