Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man has signed and issued Resolution No. 88/2025/UBTVQH15 regulating the apparatus of the National Election Council.
According to the resolution, the Office of the National Election Council is the assistant apparatus of the National Election Council.
The National Election Council Office is responsible for assisting the National Election Council in organizing the election of 16th National Assembly deputies.
Direct and guide the election of People's Council delegates at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
The National Election Council Office has an Chief of Office, Deputy Chief of Office and working groups including members who are civil servants of relevant agencies and organizations held to perform the tasks and powers of the Office.
The Resolution also clearly states the duties and powers of the National Election Council Office such as:
Serve the National Election Council, Chairman, Vice Chairman, Member of the National Election Council and Subcommittees of the National Election Council in performing the tasks and powers prescribed in the Law on Election of National Assembly deputies and People's Council deputies.
Assist the National Election Council and the Subcommittees of the National Election Council in drafting documents under their authority according to their assignments.
Organize to serve meetings and meetings of the National Election Council and Subcommittees of the National Election Council.
Perform the task of advising, synthesizing, periodically reporting, drafting to announce the conclusions and completing documents of the National Election Council.
Assist the National Election Council in urging, monitoring and guiding professional and technical skills in implementing election work.
Assist the National Election Council in managing and using the National Election Council's operating budget.
Carry out administrative work, document work and advise, propose coordination in handling and resolving arising tasks related to the activities of the National Election Council.
Information and data security for election work. Proactively innovate, apply science and technology, improve quality and efficiency of governance and operation throughout the process of serving election work, especially in the work of synthesis, statistics and analysis.
Higher advisory on the assignment, coordination, organization, and service of working groups and inspection teams of the National Election Council in localities.
Perform other tasks assigned by the Chairman of the National Election Council.
Previously, on June 25, after listening to the submission of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Assembly voted to pass the Resolution on the establishment of the National Election Council with 425/426 delegates in favor.
The National Election Council consists of 19 members.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the National Election Council is the Chairman of the National Assembly. The Standing Vice Chairman of the Council is a Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly and the head of the personnel subcommittee.
The Vice Chairmen of the Council include: A Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, and Vice President.
