On the afternoon of November 11, at the 19th Nghe An Provincial Party Committee Conference, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee was elected by the Provincial Party Committee to hold the position of Secretary of the Nghe An Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung was born in 1974; hometown Tinh Hai commune, Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa; professional qualification: Master of Economics; advanced political theory qualification.
Mr. Trung has held the following positions: Director of the Department of Organization and Personnel, Director of the Department of Local and Territorial Economy, Director of the Department of Infrastructure and Urban Areas, Ministry of Planning and Investment. On January 28, 2019, he assumed the position of Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment.
In February 2020, the Secretariat transferred, rotated, and appointed Mr. Trung to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee for the 2015-2020 term.
On March 18, 2020, the 17th People's Council of Nghe An province, term 2016-2021, opened its 13th session. At this session, Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung was elected Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province for the term 2016-2021 with 100% of the votes.
On July 4, 2021, the 18th term People's Council of Nghe An province, term 2021-2026, held its first meeting to elect positions under the authority of the Provincial People's Council.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province - continued to be elected to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghe An province for the 2021-2026 term, with 100% of delegates attending the meeting.
Previously, in October 2024, the Politburo assigned and appointed Mr. Thai Thanh Quy - Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Central Economic Commission.
