On the morning of November 14, at the 5th session of the 10th term of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, term 2021-2026, the delegates elected Mr. Nguyen Van Tho - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council.
Mr. Tho won the election with 160/161 votes, reaching 99.38% of the delegates present.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council also agreed to dismiss Mr. Nguyen Van Tho from the position of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
The delegates also voted to dismiss comrade Pham Thanh Kien from the position of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council. Mr. Kien was transferred and appointed by the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee to hold the position of Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee's Organization Committee.
Thus, currently, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council includes Chairman Vo Van Minh and Vice Chairmen: Tran Van Tuan, Nguyen Van Tho, Huynh Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tho, born in 1968, hometown in Dat Do commune, Dat Do district, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province (now Ho Chi Minh City). He has a bachelor's degree in Economics, a bachelor's degree in Law and a senior degree in political theory.
Since December 2019, he has been Chairman of the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. After Ho Chi Minh City merged with Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the Prime Minister appointed him to hold the position of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.
