Building a politically strong army is a top priority.
According to the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA), after 80 years of building, fighting, winning and growing, our Army has built a glorious tradition, summarized in the praise of President Ho Chi Minh: "Our Army is loyal to the Party, filial to the people, ready to fight and sacrifice for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, for socialism. Every task is completed, every difficulty is overcome, every enemy is defeated."
The 80-year practice of building, fighting and growing of the Vietnam People's Army has affirmed that building the army politically is a matter of principle in building a new-style army of the proletariat.
Lieutenant General, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hung Oanh - Principal of the Political Officer School - affirmed that in 80 years of building, fighting and growing, whether in peacetime or wartime, the building of a politically strong Army has always been a top priority for our Party. Therefore, it has created a solid foundation to improve overall quality and combat strength, ensuring that our Army is always worthy of being a political force, an absolutely loyal and trustworthy fighting force of the Party, State and people, fulfilling its functions as a fighting army, a working army, a production labor army in the new era.
Typical military cultural values - qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers"
Experts point out that building a politically strong Army must encompass many areas. However, the core element of the entire process is to nurture, build, preserve and develop the qualities of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers”, or the personality model of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers”. The deepest meaning of the title and qualities of “Uncle Ho’s Soldiers” is not only the achievement of the past, of the past 80 years, but also the demands, needs and challenges of the future.
According to Professor, Dr. Dinh Xuan Dung - former Vice President of the Central Council for Theory and Criticism of Literature and Art, coming from the people, fighting and sacrificing for the people is the overarching characteristic in all activities of the Army, of the depth of personality and qualities of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers".
In the past 80 years of history, every feat of “Uncle Ho’s Army” is closely linked to the people’s strength, the close solidarity between the army and the people, from which no force can separate “Uncle Ho’s Army” from the people. “Filial piety to the people”, maintaining the “people’s heart” position is forever the steadfast oath, the sacred quality of “Uncle Ho’s Army”.
“Uncle Ho’s soldiers” are always present to help the people in the face of all challenges and difficulties. The affectionate image of soldiers returning to their villages, the people miss them when they leave, and the people love them when they stay will forever be a unique cultural beauty spreading in the people’s feelings for “Uncle Ho’s soldiers”.
A very high level of self-discipline is also one of the personality characteristics of "Uncle Ho's soldiers". It is a very elaborate training process, first and foremost of which is to build in the soldier's personality self-respect, valuing honor first and foremost, so discipline becomes the soldier's own need to be tempered in the military environment. And it is from that great environment that "Uncle Ho's soldiers" have a noble comradeship. Activities such as: "Comradely affection", "Comrades in arms", "Comradely heart", "Searching for and looking for comrades" ... have long become a tradition, a cultural beauty in the military life and that is also a rare cultural value of "Uncle Ho's soldiers".
“For nearly 80 years, the quality of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” has been a typical military cultural value, built from the patriotic tradition of our nation, from the education and training of our Party and President Ho Chi Minh, from the trust and support of the people and from the contributions and sacrifices of generations of cadres and soldiers. That value has been preserved, inherited and developed through the practice of revolutionary struggles, in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Promoting the qualities of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers” in building and defending the Fatherland is both an objective requirement and the sentiment and responsibility of all military officers and soldiers. At the same time, this is a core factor in building a politically strong Vietnam People’s Army,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Dinh Xuan Dung.
