Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang receives additional tasks

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang has just been assigned to be the Chairman of the National Council for Sustainable Development.

Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has just signed Decision No. 1021/QD-TTg dated June 9, 2026 on consolidating the National Council for Sustainable Development (Council).

According to the decision, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang is the Chairman of the Council.

The Vice Chairman of the Council is the Minister of Finance.

Members of the Council include:

- Representatives of leaders of ministries and ministerial-level agencies: Government Office; Ministry of Finance; Ministry of Public Security; Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; Ministry of Science and Technology; Ministry of Education and Training; Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Ministry of Health; Ministry of Construction; Ministry of Industry and Trade; Ministry of Justice; Ministry of Home Affairs; Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions; Government Inspectorate; State Bank of Vietnam.

- Representatives of leaders of agencies under the Party Central Committee: Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; Central Policy and Strategy Commission; Vietnam Television; Voice of Vietnam Radio; Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences; Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology.

- Representatives of leaders of socio-political organizations and the business community: Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry Federation; Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises.

The Council is an inter-sectoral coordinating organization to assist the Prime Minister in researching, directing, and coordinating the resolution of important inter-sectoral tasks to implement sustainable development in Vietnam.

The Council has the task of assisting the Prime Minister in researching, advising, recommending, and proposing directions and solutions to solve important inter-sectoral issues related to sustainable development in Vietnam.

This includes: building and organizing the implementation of guidelines, strategies, mechanisms, and policies to implement sustainable development nationwide; implementing global commitments on sustainable development in Vietnam.

Effectively implement the national action plan to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development; assess and summarize the results of sustainable development implementation nationwide and periodically organize national conferences on sustainable development.

Helping the Prime Minister direct and coordinate between ministries, ministerial-level agencies and relevant agencies and organizations in solving important inter-sectoral issues related to sustainable development in Vietnam.
