On the afternoon of December 2, the National Assembly discussed in the hall the investment policy for the national target program of modernization and improvement of the quality of education and training for the period 2026 - 2035.
Headquarters are not on par with ministries
Speaking in front of the hall, delegate Nguyen Anh Tri (Hanoi delegation) proposed that the Government and the Prime Minister pay attention to and prioritize the construction of a new headquarters for the Ministry of Education and Training.
According to the delegate, the headquarters of the Ministry of Education and Training was built in the 70s of the last century, when the country was still facing many difficulties, with simple architecture.
"The headquarters has seriously degraded, "used up", not on par with the headquarters of a ministry. Although there have been some upgrades, it is just "scream, butter", it cannot be improved" - the delegate said.
Delegate Nguyen Anh Tri said that he was very saddened to hear the head of the Ministry of Education and Training sadly say that the headquarters of the ministry should be as spacious as the headquarters of a nearby ward People's Committee.
"We are starting many large projects, all of which are necessary, but in my opinion the most necessary is the headquarters of the Ministry of Education and Training.
I hope to soon have a headquarters for the Ministry of Education and Training and this should be a beautiful, large headquarters, properly in the top of the headquarters of ministries in our country" - the delegate said.
Focus only on breakthroughs
Explaining later, Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long said that there will be many stages to be completed for the goal of a modern country, improving the quality of education and training.
After the National Assembly approves the investment policy for the national target program, the next steps will be carried out, including issuing an investment decision.
The Government will continue to study to adjust and best suit the ability to allocate capital, the set tasks as well as the current economic context.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the policies proposed in this draft investment policy focus on some breakthrough stages, while other things have been done in other programs or are being spent regularly, for example, investment in teaching ethnic minority languages has been implemented according to separate projects of the regular expenditure program, or the construction of headquarters of the Ministry of Education and Training.
As soon as the merger was made, we suggested that Minister Nguyen Kim Son pay attention to the facilities. This is part of the normal public investment program" - the Deputy Prime Minister said.
The Government leader also stated that the National Target Program on modernization and improving the quality of education and training only focuses on a few tasks.
If there is still scattered, the Government will continue to review how to come up with the most suitable program in the current context, including in terms of goals, tasks and feasibility, said Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long.
