On April 24, Ben Tre province held a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); 50 years of the Liberation of Ben Tre (May 1, 1975 - May 1, 2025); 139 years of the International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025) and awarded the Nguyen Dinh Chieu Award.
Reading speech at the celebration, Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Council - said that after 50 years from the day of liberation, from a land suffering from the pain of the war, Ben Tre applied creatively and promoted the tradition of Dong Khoi in 1960, with many guidelines, resolutions, revolutionary action programs. Prominent is the emulation movement "New Copper", connected into a continuous flow between the past, present and future, gradually bringing the province to strongly rise and achieve many important achievements in all fields: Economy, Defense - Security, Party building, government building.
In terms of economy, in 2024, for the first time, Ben Tre achieved an import-export turnover of over 2.2 billion USD, of which exports reached 1.75 billion USD, and coconut exports alone reached 0.52 billion USD. State budget revenue in the area reached VND 6,632.9 billion. In particular, the work of gratitude is carried out practically and meaningfully.
Speaking at the celebration, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Member of the Politburo, Head of the Propaganda Department and the Central Mobilization - acknowledged and appreciated the continuous efforts in the leadership of Ben Tre province to well perform political stability tasks, maintain security and order, socio -economic development, take care of material and spiritual life for the people.
According to Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia, Ben Tre is a locality with many opportunities to attract investment from outside; many potentials need to continue to be exploited and promoted effectively. On the basis of promoting revolutionary traditions and the spirit of the old Dong Khoi, continuing to spread and effectively implement the emulation movement "New Dong Khoi", determined to successfully implement the Resolution of the 11th Provincial Party Congress, term 2020 - 2025.
The Head of the Central Propaganda Department and the Central Committee suggested that Ben Tre pay attention to a number of key tasks such as: Focus on implementing the guidance of the General Secretary at the National Conference to thoroughly grasp and implement the Resolution of the 11th Conference of the Central Committee of the XIII Party Committee. Agree on awareness and thought; Must overcome themselves, sacrifice personal interests for the common benefit of the country; Focusing on leading and directing the organization of the Congress to ensure closely and methodically in accordance with the Spirit of Directive No. 45-CT/TW of the Politburo, especially the consolidation of the provincial administrative unit to create new space and conditions for development. Promote strengths and strategic positions, well implement regional links according to Resolution No. 13-NQ/TW of the Politburo Session XIII; synchronously and effectively deploy the great guidelines of the Party and the State on policies for people with meritorious services, sustainable poverty reduction, new rural construction and civilized cities, in which the movement to erase temporary houses, dilapidated houses - the bright spot of Ben Tre - should be promoted with the highest political determination.
On this occasion, the People's Committee of Ben Tre province presented the Nguyen Dinh Chieu Award to 19 individuals with outstanding contributions in the fields of literature, arts, education and medicine.
Earlier, on the same morning, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia visited and presented gifts to Ms. Dang Thi Manh, a 3/4 war invalid, in Ward 6, Ben Tre City.
