Qatar proposes Vietnam open technology business center

Qatar wants Vietnam to open a technology business center in Qatar to produce products and provide services not only for Qatar but also for the whole region.

On the afternoon of October 31 local time, in Doha, Qatar, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Qatari Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai.

According to the Government Newspaper, congratulating Qatar on its strong development, especially its transformation in technology, innovation and digital transformation, making Qatar one of the pioneers in the region in these fields, the Prime Minister said that during the talks and meetings between the Prime Minister and Qatari leaders during this working trip, the two sides recognized the vast potential and agreed to further enhance cooperation in the fields of information technology and digital transformation.

The Prime Minister hopes that the two sides will have specific cooperation projects, especially in the fields of cyber security, building national and specialized data centers; and request Qatar to provide preferential loans, transfer technology and train human resources for Vietnam in these fields.

The Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Qatar said that digital transformation is an important process for all countries in the world, including Qatar and Vietnam. The two sides also discussed at the ministerial level, agreeing to promote cooperation in the fields of telecommunications, semiconductors, data centers, etc. Along with that, promoting cooperation on cyber security, including infrastructure, science and technology and law.

Informing that Qatar is ready to open opportunities for Vietnamese enterprises to invest and do business in Qatar, Minister Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai hopes that Vietnam will open a technology business center in Qatar to produce products and provide services not only for Qatar but also for the whole region; said that Qatar will establish a working group to connect and promote cooperation with Vietnam in this field.

Stating that Vietnam has large technology and telecommunications enterprises, such as Viettel, FPT... that have produced 5G equipment, the Prime Minister welcomed the opening of a Vietnamese technology enterprise center in Qatar, saying that this is a completely feasible idea, with the formula: Vietnam provides human resources, Qatar provides finance, on the basis of good relations between the two countries so that enterprises of the two countries can combine to produce and provide information technology and telecommunications products and services not only for Qatar but also for the whole region.

According to the Prime Minister, during the meeting with the Prime Minister, the King of Qatar is very interested in the issue of cyber security, while Vietnam ranks 17th in cyber security in the world, it is completely possible to cooperate effectively with Qatar in this field; the two sides will negotiate and sign an intergovernmental agreement related to cyber security.

The Prime Minister highly appreciated the important role of the two Ministers in this field; requested the Minister of Communications and Information Technology of Qatar and the Minister of Information and Communications of Vietnam to "keep their word and commit to concrete results" to effectively implement high-level agreements in the management field.

The Prime Minister said that we must take advantage of time and intelligence, accept risks, and create breakthroughs to bring technological relations, especially information technology and telecommunications, to match the political and diplomatic relations, potentials, and desires of both sides.
