On December 9, the Party Committee and Command of Military Region 7 solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Military Region Armed Forces (LLVT) Traditional Day (December 10, 1945 - December 10, 2025) and received the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
The ceremony was attended by President Luong Cuong. Also attending were former President Nguyen Minh Triet, former President Truong Tan Sang, former Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, former National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan and former Standing member of the Secretariat Le Hong Anh.
The ceremony was also attended by Politburo members, former Politburo members, Secretariat members, Party Central Committee members and former Party Central Committee members; leaders and former leaders of central and local departments, ministries and branches; Heroic Vietnamese Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces; leaders and former leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and the Military Region; delegates of the Royal Military units of Cambodia.
At the ceremony, Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc, Party Committee Secretary and Political Commissar of Military Region 7, reviewed the formation and development journey of the Military Region's Armed Forces since 1945.
Having gone through two resistance wars, fighting to protect the southwestern border and fulfilling international duties, the Vietnamese soldiers of Military Region 7 have always been resilient, creative, and achieved many resounding feats, contributing significantly to the cause of national liberation, national reunification and national defense.
In the new period, the Military Region continues to build a comprehensively strong force, deploy many creative models and projects, and is highly appreciated by Party committees, authorities and people.
With a long history and achievements following the achievements of the previous periods, the Vietnamese soldiers of Military Region 7 have been honored by the Party and State with: 2 Gold Star Medals; 3 Ho Chi Minh Medals; 1 First Class Military Exploit Order; 2 First Class Fatherland Protection Medals and many noble awards from the Party and State.
At the ceremony, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, President Luong Cuong awarded the title of People's Armed Forces Hero to the Armed Forces of Military Region 7 for their outstanding achievements in training, combat readiness, building forces and strengthening national defense, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Luong Cuong praised the contributions of generations of officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Military Region 7 over the past 80 years; at the same time, requested the Military Region to continue to thoroughly grasp President Ho Chi Minh's military ideology and the national defense guidelines; build a revolutionary, disciplined, elite, modern Vietnam Military Region; maintain the "people's heart position"; closely coordinate with localities to build a solid defense zone, linking socio-economic development with strengthening national defense and security. President Luong Cuong believes that, with the feats and achievements, the officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Military Region 7 will maintain and promote the glorious tradition of "Unlimited Loyalty, Proactive Creativity, self-reliance, solidarity and determination to win" to successfully complete all assigned tasks, contributing to firmly defending the Fatherland in the new situation.
