Quang Nam reduces 1 district and 8 communes from January 1, 2025

From January 1, 2025, Quang Nam province will reduce 1 district-level administrative unit (DCU) and 8 commune-level administrative units.

On the morning of December 2, the People's Committee of Quang Nam province held a ceremony to announce Resolution No. 1241, dated October 24, 2024 of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in the province for the period 2023 - 2025.

According to Resolution 1241, Quang Nam will merge 2 districts and rearrange commune-level administrative units in 7 districts and cities, effective from January 1, 2025.

Nong Son district is merged into Que Son district, forming the new Que Son district; Que Son district merges Son Vien commune into Que Loc commune, forming the new Que Loc commune; Hiep Duc district merges Hiep Thuan commune into Hiep Hoa commune, forming Que Tan commune; Thang Binh district merges Binh Dinh Bac commune into Binh Dinh Nam commune, forming Binh Dinh commune; Binh Chanh commune into Binh Phu commune, forming Binh Phu commune; Duy Xuyen district merges Duy Thu commune into Duy Tan commune, forming Duy Tan commune; Tien Phuoc district merges Tien Cam commune into Tien Son commune, forming Tien Son commune; Phu Ninh district merges Tam Vinh commune into Phu Thinh town, forming Phu Thinh town; Tam Ky city merges Phuoc Hoa ward into An Xuan ward, forming An Xuan ward.

From January 1, 2025, Quang Nam province has 17 district-level administrative units, including: 14 districts, 1 town and 2 cities; 233 commune-level administrative units, including: 190 communes, 29 wards and 14 towns; a decrease of 1 district; 8 communes compared to before the merger.

Regarding the management and staffing of existing civil servants and public employees before the rearrangement, no later than 5 years from January 1, 2025, the number of leaders, managers and the number of civil servants and public employees of agencies and organizations in the administrative unit after the rearrangement must be ensured in accordance with regulations.

Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet - Head of the Steering Committee for Urban Development and Administrative Unit Arrangement of Quang Nam province requested Party committees, Party organizations, leaders of agencies, units and localities to continue to strengthen propaganda and mobilization work to create consensus in the political system, Party members, civil servants and public employees, and people on the arrangement of administrative units.

Implement the work of arranging, organizing the apparatus, assigning redundant civil servants; arranging and reorganizing public assets after arranging administrative units at district and commune levels to ensure compliance with current regulations, avoiding loss and waste.
