On April 21, the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee conference officially discussed and approved the plan to name 88 communes and wards in the province - replacing the original plan announced under Resolution No. 45 dated April 18, 2025. This is the result of receiving public opinions, after a widespread consultation process throughout the province.

Nearly 100% of voters participate in giving comments
Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet said that on April 19 and 20, the whole province deployed to collect public opinions on the original plan in Resolution 45. The results showed the special interest of the people, with 99.02% of voters representing households participating.
Of which, 97.66% of voters agreed with the rearrangement of the commune level, 98.52% of voters approved the merger of Quang Nam province with Da Nang city.
However, before the specific and enthusiastic suggestions from the people - especially on the name of the communes after arranging, on April 20, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee directed the provincial People's Committee to review the entire system of historical and traditional cultural places to propose a new name, more suitable to the identity of each land.

At the conference on April 21, delegates from localities highly agreed to remove the old administrative names in the form of combining district names with the order 1, 2, 3...) or geographically (Dong, Tay, Nam, Bac) - which were considered arid and lacking cultural depth.
Instead, localities propose to choose locations associated with history, culture, and natural heritage to name new administrative units, to represent and arouse regional pride.
The soul of Quang in each name
The list of new names is highly appreciated for their suggestiveness, sexiness and rich local culture. Some prominent names agreed upon include:
City. Hoi An: Thanh Chau, Thanh Ha.
City. Tam Ky: Huong Tra, Ban Thach, Quang Phu.
Dong Giang District: A Vuong, Ben Hien.
Tien Phuoc District: Tai Da, Son Cam Ha.
Phu Ninh District: Phu Ninh, Chien Dan, Tay Ho.
Familiar names such as My Son, Vu Gia, Thu Bon, Go Noi, Ben Giang, Cho Duoc, Binh Duong... are also included in the list, carrying the breath of the land, rivers and mountains and community memories of the people of Quang.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Le Tri Thanh - Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) of Quang Nam province - emphasized: "Renaming communes and wards is not only an administrative procedure, but also an opportunity to preserve and honor the cultural values of each rural area. Therefore, it is necessary to be especially careful, elaborate, and meticulous."
Concluding the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Luong Nguyen Minh Triet requested the Department of Home Affairs to promptly instruct localities to collect voters' opinions on the newly agreed list of names, in order to ensure social consensus before submitting to the Provincial People's Council at the upcoming 31st Session.
