At the invitation of Politburo member and President Luong Cuong and his wife, King Bhutan Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and the Queen will visit the State of Vietnam from August 18 to 22.
At the regular press conference of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the afternoon of August 14, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang said that this is the first State visit to Vietnam by the King of Bhutan and the Queen since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2012.
The visit took place in the context of many positive developments in relations between Vietnam and Bhutan.
Regarding diplomatic relations, the two countries regularly exchange delegations at all levels. Regarding trade economy, the two countries have made efforts to increase two-way trade in recent times. Some of the Vietnamese exports to Bhutan are wood, machinery, equipment, tools, spare parts, etc.
The two countries regularly coordinate well, support each other and will continue to strengthen cooperation at regional and international forums, especially at the United Nations, the World Parliamentary Assembly... as well as on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
"We believe that agriculture, tourism, culture, education, science and technology, digital transformation and green development are areas where both sides still have many opportunities and room for cooperation and development in the coming time" - Ms. Pham Thu Hang shared.
According to the spokesperson, this will also be the subject of discussion in talks and meetings during the visit of King Bhutan.
The spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that during the visit, the King of Bhutan is expected to hold talks with President Luong Cuong, meet with General Secretary To Lam; Politburo member, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Politburo member, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man, along with many other important activities.
