The National Assembly Standing Committee issued Resolution No. 1104/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the arrangement of district and commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period of Nam Dinh province, effective from September 1, 2024.
According to the resolution, the entire natural area of 74.49 km2 and population of 84,045 people of My Loc district will be merged into Nam Dinh city. After the merger, Nam Dinh city will have a natural area of 120.90 km2 and a population of 364,181 people.
Establish and arrange commune-level administrative units in Nam Dinh city as follows:
Establish Nam Phong ward on the basis of the entire natural area of 6.58 km2 and population of 9,160 people of Nam Phong commune.
Establish Nam Van ward on the basis of the entire natural area of 5.62 km2 and population of 7,637 people of Nam Van commune.
Establish Hung Loc ward on the basis of merging the entire natural area of 5.25 km2, population of 8,071 people of My Hung commune and the entire natural area of 4.72 km2, population of 5,886 people of My Loc town.
Merge the entire natural area of 3.33 km2, population of 7,674 people of Loc An commune and the entire natural area of 0.43 km2, population of 11,967 people of Van Mieu ward into Truong Thi ward.
Merge the entire natural area of 0.59 km2, population of 20,391 people of Ha Long ward and the entire natural area of 0.68 km2, population of 9,556 people of Thong Nhat ward into Quang Trung ward.
Merge the entire natural area of 0.73 km2, population of 13,064 people of Tran Te Xuong ward and the entire natural area of 0.64 km2, population of 7,638 people of Vi Hoang ward into Vi Xuyen ward.
Merge the entire natural area of 0.39 km2, population of 8,520 people of Phan Dinh Phung ward and the entire natural area of 0.21 km2, population of 6,362 people of Nguyen Du ward into Tran Hung Dao ward.
Merge the entire natural area of 0.36 km2, population size of 5,477 people of Ngo Quyen ward and the natural area of 0.91 km2, population size of 12,702 people of Tran Quang Khai ward into Nang Tinh ward.
Merge the entire natural area of 0.27 km2, population of 7,399 people of Ba Trieu ward and the entire natural area of 0.46 km2, population of 9,286 people of Tran Dang Ninh ward into Cua Bac ward.
My Loc commune was established on the basis of merging the entire natural area of 5.79 km2 and a population of 4,985 people of My Thanh commune; the entire natural area of 5.31 km2 and a population of 4,887 people of My Thinh commune and the entire natural area of 5.82 km2 and a population of 6,037 people of My Tien commune.
After the arrangement, Nam Dinh City has 21 commune-level administrative units (reduced by 15 units), including 14 wards: Cua Bac, Cua Nam, Hung Loc, Loc Ha, Loc Hoa, Loc Vuong, Nam Phong, Nam Van, Nang Tinh, My Xa, Quang Trung, Tran Hung Dao, Truong Thi, Vi Xuyen and 7 communes: My Ha, My Loc, My Phuc, My Tan, My Thang, My Thuan, My Trung.
