On the morning of December 9, General Luong Tam Quang - Politburo member, Minister of Public Security, authorized by the Prime Minister, presented a report on crime prevention and control and law violations in 2025.
Regarding the results of the fight against corruption, economic crimes, and smuggling, the report stated that the number of cases of economic management order crimes was 28.97%, the number of cases of corruption and position crimes was 17.57% less than the same period in 2024. The number of social order crimes decreased by 12.18%, of which some types of dangerous crimes, especially dangerous crimes, decreased significantly compared to the same period in 2024.
9 peak periods of crime suppression have been focused on; the rate of investigation and discovery reached 81.32%; of which, very serious cases reached 93.25%, especially serious cases reached 95.16% (exceeding the target assigned by the National Assembly).
The number of environmental, resource and food safety violations is 48.17% less than the same period in 2024. Continue to strengthen the direction of inspection, detection and handling of violations of environmental laws, issues of domestic waste treatment in urban areas; fight and handle violations of laws on forest protection, development and food safety; strengthen the prevention of violations of food safety.
The number of crimes in the field of information technology and telecommunications is 11.53% less than the same period in 2024. A cross-sectoral model has been built to prevent and combat online fraud; conduct a general review and clean up mobile subscribers, bank accounts; and electronic authentication services. Prevent access to websites and social media accounts related to illegal acts.
The number of drug crimes is 18.29% less than the same period in 2024. Continue to strengthen the fight against and suppression of drug crimes on key routes and areas.
Reviewing the Government's report, Chairman of the Law and Justice Committee Hoang Thanh Tung said that basically all types of crimes and law violations have decreased compared to the same period (down 19.18%).
However, some types of crimes are still increasing such as: fraud, property appropriation (up 11.76%), disturbing public order (up 21.83%), production and trading of counterfeit goods (up 47.17%).
There were a number of brutal and inhumane murders, killing many people due to emotional conflicts, causing anger, anxiety, and insecurity among the people.
Regarding the detection and handling of law violations and crimes, many new methods and tricks of economic crimes, fraud, and smuggling have been discovered. The number of corrupt assets recovered during the investigation period increased (up 53.81%).
Crimes related to waste in investment and construction causing serious damage to the State budget are more detected and handled.
However, the results of detecting violations of the law and crimes in some fields still have some aspects to note.
In particular, drug crimes continue to develop in a complex manner on a large scale, with a particularly serious nature; Violations of the law and crimes in the field of food safety are complicated, causing serious consequences to people's health.
Some agencies have not fully performed their specialized State management functions in their assigned fields, even allowing some cases of cadres and civil servants who have seriously violated the law to occur, assisting the subject in committing corporate cover-ups for profit.
