On the evening of January 18, at 8/5 Square, Moc Chau District Administrative Center, Son La Province, the Ceremony to Announce the Resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the establishment of Moc Chau town and the arrangement and establishment of commune-level administrative units in Moc Chau town took place.
Attending the ceremony were Ms. Tong Thi Phong, former Politburo member, former Permanent Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly; Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly; Mr. Nguyen Huu Dong, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Head of the Central Internal Affairs Commission, along with leaders of central departments, ministries, branches and representatives of the Embassies of the Lao PDR and Japan in Vietnam.
After 4 years of focusing resources on more than 40 key projects, with a total investment of over 2,500 billion VND, Moc Chau has completed 5/5 criteria and 61/63 type IV urban standards, achieving 86.6/100 points.
This result is the basis for the Ministry of Construction to recognize Moc Chau urban area as meeting the criteria of a type IV urban area.
In addition, the process of adjusting administrative boundaries with 99.99% consensus from voters helped form 8 wards and rearrange communes, creating favorable conditions for the National Assembly Standing Committee to issue Resolution No. 1280/NQ-UBTVQH15 on the establishment of Moc Chau town.
Accordingly, Moc Chau town has a natural area of 1,072 km2, population of 148,259 people, including 8 wards and 7 communes.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh emphasized that the Party Committee, government and people of Moc Chau town need to continue to make efforts to effectively implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and the Resolution of the Son La Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term. At the same time, promote the advantages of nature, people and culture to develop Moc Chau into a regional and international tourist city.
This event marks an important turning point in the development process of Moc Chau, opening up new opportunities for the locality to break through and contribute to the overall development of the Northwest region and the whole country.
