The Government Inspectorate announces the decision to inspect the management and business of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

On June 9, Deputy Inspector General of the Government Nguyen Van Cuong chaired a meeting to announce the inspection decision on the management and business of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

At the event, Director of the Department of Inspection, Settlement of Complaints and Denunciations in the field of health and education (Department X) Nguyen Tuan Anh announced Decision No. 599/QD-TTCP dated June 8, 2026 of the Government Inspector General on inspecting the management and business of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment.

According to the decision, the subjects of inspection are the Ministry of Health and a number of relevant agencies, units, organizations, and businesses.

The inspection period is from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2025; when necessary, it can be considered before or after the above period. The inspection period is 60 days from the date of announcement of the inspection decision (excluding holidays, Tet holidays, and weekends as prescribed).

The inspection team consists of 21 members, headed by Director of Department X Nguyen Tuan Anh. 2 Deputy Heads of the delegation are Deputy Director of Department X Ngo Dinh Long and Deputy Director of the Department of Inspection, Settlement of Complaints and Denunciations in the field of finance and banking (Department VI) Diem Dang Viet.

At the announcement of the inspection decision, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen affirmed that the Ministry of Health strictly complies with the inspection decision and will direct relevant units to closely coordinate with the inspection team throughout the working process.

Speaking to direct at the announcement ceremony, Deputy Inspector General of the Government Nguyen Van Cuong affirmed that pharmaceuticals and medical equipment are areas of particular importance, directly related to the work of caring for, protecting and improving people's health.

According to the Deputy Inspector General of the Government, this is also a field with a large market scale, high professionalism, involving many subjects from state management agencies to production, import, distribution, business units and medical examination and treatment facilities. Over the past time, state management of the pharmaceutical and medical equipment sector has had many positive changes, and the legal system has been gradually improved.

However, practice shows that the capacity to produce and supply drugs, supplies and medical equipment is still limited, heavily dependent on import sources; potentially posing risks of violations in the stages of licensing management, bidding, procurement, valuation, circulation and business.

These shortcomings not only affect the effectiveness of state management but also directly affect the quality of medical examination and treatment and the rights of people.

Deputy Inspector General of the Government said that Inspector General of the Government Nguyen Quoc Doan is particularly interested in the field of pharmaceuticals and medical equipment. The guiding viewpoint throughout inspection activities is to fully ensure the objectives according to the provisions of the Law on Inspection such as detecting inadequacies in mechanisms, policies, laws; preventing, detecting and handling violations; improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management; protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the State, organizations and individuals.

For this inspection, the goal is determined not only to stop at evaluating management work but also to protect, care for and improve people's health, ensure the rights of patients; contributing to the effective implementation of the Party's guidelines on protecting, caring for and improving people's health in the new situation.
