Prime Minister directs investigation into traffic accident in Nam Dinh

The Prime Minister requested an urgent investigation to clarify the cause and remedy the consequences of the particularly serious traffic accident in Nam Dinh.

Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Official Dispatch 08/CD-TTg on overcoming the consequences of a particularly serious traffic accident in Nam Dinh city, Nam Dinh province.

Telegrams sent to the Ministers of Public Security, Transport; Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and cities: Hanoi, Nam Dinh; National Traffic Safety Committee.

The content of the telegram clearly states:

At 3:00 p.m. on January 30, on National Highway 21, through Nam Dinh city, Nam Dinh province, a particularly serious traffic accident occurred when a car with license plate 30G-156.67 plunged into a ditch, killing 7 people and injuring 2 others.

Upon receiving information about the accident, the Prime Minister directed to send his warmest regards and condolences to the families of the deceased victims; and directed the leaders of Nam Dinh province and the police force to go to the scene to direct the handling of the accident.

To promptly overcome the consequences and prevent similar traffic accidents, the Prime Minister requested:

The Chairman of the People's Committee and Head of the Traffic Safety Committee of Nam Dinh province directed the provincial agencies and functional units to arrange all medical conditions and medicines to treat the victims, minimize human and property losses of the people; organize visits and support to encourage the families of the victims who died in the accident.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee directly chaired the conference with relevant agencies and forces to assess the causes and deploy solutions to overcome existing problems and shortcomings, if any; at the same time, urgently clarify the direct and indirect causes related to the above traffic accident in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister in Directive No. 10/CT-TTg dated April 19, 2023 on strengthening the work of ensuring order and safety of road traffic in the new situation; as a basis for propaganda and implementation of preventive solutions in the coming time.

The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee directed the city's functional agencies and units to visit and support the families of the victims who died in the accident.

The Ministry of Public Security directed the Nam Dinh Provincial Police and relevant police units to urgently investigate, clarify the cause of the accident and strictly handle in accordance with the law the organizations and individuals who violated regulations, causing the above-mentioned particularly serious traffic accident.

The Ministry of Transport directs relevant units to review and strengthen the organization of reasonable traffic on National Highway 21 and national highways with similar conditions, and enhance the safety features of the traffic infrastructure system in bridge and culvert areas to ensure traffic order and safety.
