Prime Minister receives Russian Minister of Energy

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia.

On the afternoon of October 23, local time, during his working trip to attend the 2024 BRICS Leaders' Meeting in Russia, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsiviliev.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Russia and wishes to strengthen and deepen cooperation with Russia in various fields for the benefit of the people of the two countries.

The Prime Minister emphasized that in recent times, the exchange of delegations between the two countries has taken place regularly and actively at all levels and through all channels, continuing to consolidate the political foundation for ministries, branches, businesses and localities of the two countries to expand cooperation, including in the energy - oil and gas sector, an important pillar of the Vietnam - Russian Federation Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Russian Energy Minister expressed his pleasure at meeting Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; said he was honored to accompany President Putin to visit Vietnam last June and participate in a very impressive activity of meeting former Vietnamese students who had studied in Russia and the Soviet Union, affirming that Vietnamese students are disciplined, hard-working and intelligent.

Appreciating the significance of the Prime Minister's working trip to the Russian Federation this time, the Russian Energy Minister believes that the Prime Minister's guiding opinions at the meeting will create momentum to promote bilateral cooperation; affirming that the Russian Government leaders, as well as the Russian Energy Ministry, highly appreciate the cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in recent times and hope that the two sides will continue to promote cooperation projects in new fields in the coming time, meeting the development needs of each country, such as in responding to climate change, energy transition, using green energy, clean energy, and nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed and asked Minister Sergey Tsiviliev to continue supporting Vietnam-Russia cooperation in the energy and oil and gas sector, and to direct the Russian Ministry of Energy to closely coordinate with Vietnamese specialized agencies to create favorable conditions for businesses of the two countries to implement cooperation projects in each other's territories, support the resumption and expansion of cooperation in training cadres for Vietnam in the energy and oil and gas sector, and at the same time implement cooperation in other areas such as digital transformation, green transformation, and circular economy.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh agreed to assign relevant agencies of the two countries to soon discuss, negotiate and reach agreement to sign cooperation agreements, especially in education - training, investment and new fields with great potential, as soon as possible.
