Prime Minister inspects progress of Long Thanh airport project

Dong Nai - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Central working delegation inspect the progress of the Long Thanh airport project.

On the afternoon of March 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the site of the Long Thanh airport project and traffic routes connecting T1 and T2.

Also attending the delegation were Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh, leaders of ministries, branches, central and local agencies.

Then, on the evening of March 20, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh continued to chair a meeting on the progress of the Long Thanh airport projects.

According to the plan, the Long Thanh airport project will be basically completed in 2025.

According to the report, with component project 1 (headquarters of state management agencies), airports, customs, immigration and local police have all started construction, while the headquarters of the plant quarantine agency is expected to start construction before May 2025.

Component project 2 (works serving flight management) includes 2 main items: air traffic control towers and specialized equipment. In particular, the air traffic control tower has completed the rough construction and is installing a steel structure on the top of the tower, expected to be completed on April 30, 2025. Regarding specialized equipment, in June 2025, all construction work will be completed and equipment installation will begin until September 2025; trial run from October to December 2025, and put into operation from December 2025.

Regarding component project 3 (essential works in airports), the total value of completed volume reached nearly 40%; basically completed 3/14 packages, 8/11 packages are under construction; 3/11 packages are being selected for construction contractors.

In particular, package 5.10 of the passenger terminal is considered the heart of Long Thanh airport, with a construction output of 35.36%. Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) has been continuing to discuss in detail with Vietur contractor and organize a foreign working group to meet with equipment supply partners, negotiate, promote earlier equipment handover, meeting the basic goal of completing the project in 2025.

As for runways, taxiways, and aircraft parking lots, the construction output is 76.34%; expected to be completed and technically exploited by take-off and taxiways before April 30, 2025.

For component project 4, investors have been selected to implement 6/6 priority investment items including 2 food supply areas, 2 aircraft cleaning and maintenance areas for ground vehicles, 2 aircraft maintenance areas (hangers 1 and 4).

Regarding the T1 and T2 traffic routes connecting to Long Thanh airport, the implementation output has reached nearly 76%, expected to open the T1 route to technical traffic on April 30, 2025, complete the T2 route in July 2025, complete the intersections, accept all, and put into use on September 2, 2025 (3 months ahead of schedule).

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reiterated the goal of basically completing the Long Thanh airport project as well as transportation projects connecting to Long Thanh airport in 2025.

Previously, on the morning of January 1 (the 4th of the Lunar New Year 2025), Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh inspected the progress of the Long Thanh airport project and wished a happy New Year, giving gifts and lucky money to officers, engineers and workers working through Tet at the construction site of the aircraft parking lot package and the passenger terminal package. At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the progress of the Long Thanh airport project has not changed, with the completion target of December 31, 2025.
