At the invitation of Politburo Member, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao arrived in Hanoi Capital, beginning an official visit to Vietnam and attending the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum from October 7-6.
On the afternoon of June 9, at the Government Headquarters, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung chaired a ceremony to welcome Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao's official visit to Vietnam.
Attending the welcoming ceremony were Minister, Chairman of the Government Office Dang Xuan Phong; Minister of Science and Technology Vu Hai Quan; Minister of Education and Training Hoang Minh Son; Deputy Minister of National Defense Nguyen Quang Ngoc; Deputy Minister of Public Security Le Quoc Hung; Deputy Chairman of the Government Office Don Tuan Phong; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Anh Tuan; Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long; Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Hoang Trung; Vietnamese Ambassador to Timor-Leste Pham Binh Dam.
Teenagers and children of the Capital waved flags of the two countries to welcome Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao and the high-level delegation of Timor-Leste.
Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao's official visit to Vietnam and participation in the ASEAN Future Forum is an important event, especially for the integration process of Timor Leste when this country has become a member of ASEAN as well as the future development of the ASEAN Community.
In a friendly and friendly atmosphere, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung was present at the red carpet warmly welcoming Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao leading the high-level Timor-Leste delegation on an official visit to Vietnam. Representatives of the Capital's children proceeded to present Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao with a bouquet of fresh flowers.
In the sound of welcoming music, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao stepped onto the podium of honor in the main hall of the Government headquarters.
After listening to the military music playing the national anthems of the two countries, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao stepped forward to bow to the military flag and review the Vietnam People's Army Honorary Team. Next, the two leaders introduced the composition of the high-level delegations of the two countries attending the welcoming ceremony.
Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao's visit is expected to contribute to strengthening political trust, promoting cooperation in all aspects to become more substantive and effective; helping Timor-Leste take advantage of Vietnam's experience and support to effectively participate in ASEAN and regional cooperation mechanisms.
Along with that, the presence of Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmao at the ASEAN Future Forum 2026 is not only an opportunity for Timor-Leste to affirm its commitment to ASEAN's common goals but also helps this country strengthen connections with partners in the region to promote socio-economic development.
After the welcoming ceremony, the two Prime Ministers led the high-level delegation of the two countries to hold talks to assess the results of cooperation between the two countries in the past and propose directions for cooperation in the coming time, witnessing the handover ceremony of cooperation documents between Vietnam and Timor-Leste.
