At 9:30 a.m. on December 2, the plane carrying Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation arrived at Wattay International Airport, Vientiane, starting a working trip to Laos to attend the High-level Meeting between the two Parties and co-chair the 48th Meeting of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee.
Welcoming Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Vietnamese delegation at the airport were Minister and Head of the Prime Minister's Office Bouakhong Nammavong; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, leaders of the capital Vientiane; Lao Ambassador to Vietnam Khamphao Ernthavanh; Chief of Office of the Lao - Vietnam Cooperation Committee Viengsan Chantha; leaders of Departments under the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the Vietnamese side, there were Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Manh Cuong; Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam; representatives of Vietnamese representative agencies in Laos, officials and staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Laos.
During the working trip, in addition to attending the High-level Meeting between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, the Prime Minister and the Lao Prime Minister will co-chair the 48th Session of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee; at the same time, conduct bilateral activities with Laos such as meeting with senior leaders of Laos; co-chair the Vietnam - Laos Economic Forum.
At the 48th session of the Vietnam - Laos Intergovernmental Committee, the two Government delegations will review and evaluate the implementation of agreements in the Vietnam - Laos Cooperation Plan for the period 2021-2025 and 2025; at the same time, discuss and agree on the direction and tasks of cooperation for the period 2026-2030 and 2026, in order to concretize the conclusions of the meeting of the two Politburoes.
The Prime Minister's working trip to Laos took place in the context of political relations and strategic trust between Vietnam and Laos continuing to be consolidated and tightened, affirming its core role and overall orientation in the bilateral relationship.
After more than 60 years of establishing diplomatic relations, inheriting and promoting the tradition of special solidarity between the two countries, the two sides agreed to elevate the relationship to a new level of strategic solidarity.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to Laos this time aims to immediately implement high-level agreements between the two Parties; contribute to promoting the development of relations with Laos; demonstrate the determination of the two Governments in realizing the Agreement between the two Politburoes, bringing the bilateral relationship to the level of "stratejic connectivity".
