On the morning of October 9, in the capital Vientiane, Laos, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended the opening session of the 44th ASEAN Summit.

According to the Government Portal, after the opening session, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and ASEAN leaders attended the 44th ASEAN Summit (plenary session) and the 45th ASEAN Summit (retreat session).

On the same afternoon, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and ASEAN leaders will attend the following events: Dialogue with Representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA); Dialogue with Representatives of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ASEAN-BAC); Dialogue with Representatives of ASEAN Youth.

The 44th and 45th ASEAN Summits and related conferences in Vientiane, Laos, taking place from October 8-11, 2024, are the most important series of high-level activities of ASEAN in the year, with the participation of leaders of ASEAN countries, Timor-Leste and 10 ASEAN partners, along with many invited guests representing international and regional organizations.

Previously, on October 8, within the framework of attending the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith; met with Lao Prime Minister and ASEAN Chair 2024 Sonexay Siphandone; met with Chairman of the Lao National Assembly Saysomphone Phomvihane.

Also on October 8, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered an important speech at the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ASEAN BIS). Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked businesses and entrepreneurs to continue contributing to ASEAN countries to continue promoting solidarity, unity, self-reliance, and self-reliance, and to be the focus of growth, and to support governments in achieving the set goals.
