Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh holds talks with Dominican President

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the President of the Dominican Republic said it is necessary to further improve the legal framework for bilateral relations.

During the official visit to the Dominican Republic at the invitation of President of the Dominican Republic Luis Abinader Corona, on the morning of November 20, local time, at the National Palace in the capital Santo Domingo, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Luis Abinader Corona and high-ranking delegations of the two countries had a very successful meeting.

According to VNA, at the talks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Luis Abinader Corona emphasized the significance and importance of preserving and promoting the value of the Ho Chi Minh Monument in the capital Santo Domingo and the Monument of Professor Juan Bosch, the first President of the democratic Dominican Republic, in the capital Hanoi, considering them symbols of solidarity and friendship between the two nations.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Luis Abinader Corona agreed that it is necessary to continue to further improve the legal framework for bilateral cooperation, promote the effectiveness of the Political Consultation mechanism between the two Foreign Ministries, and soon organize the second Political Consultation session.

The two sides agreed to promote the expansion and deepening of bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially in economics, trade and investment, double taxation avoidance, agriculture, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, digital economy, telecommunications, renewable energy, security and crime prevention, sustainable tourism development, culture, education, environmental protection and climate change response, etc.; and soon organize the first meeting of the Joint Committee on Economic, Trade and Industrial Cooperation.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh proposed that the two sides soon negotiate a free trade agreement, an investment protection agreement, cultural cooperation, education and training, and general visa exemption.

President Luis Abinader Corona expressed his gratitude to the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for recently providing a very effective anti-swine fever vaccine to the Dominican Republic.

The two leaders emphasized the need and potential to expand business and investment cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of telecommunications, energy - oil and gas, construction, agriculture and tourism.

The two sides shared the need to strengthen trade and investment promotion activities, connect businesses, facilitate market access for the two countries' key export products, and use each country as a gateway to access the markets of the two regions of Southeast Asia and Latin America - Caribbean.

The two sides also expressed interest in expanding cooperation, sharing information and experience in the fields of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transformation, sustainable tourism development, culture, education, environmental protection and climate change response.

At the end of the talks, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and President Luis Abinader Corona held a joint press conference and issued the Vietnam - Dominican Republic Joint Statement, affirming the determination of the two governments and announcing the directions and measures agreed upon by both sides to further strengthen the solidarity, friendship and good cooperation between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic in the future.
