Before arranging administrative units, Ca Mau province had 100 administrative units at commune level including 82 communes, 9 wards and 9 towns.
After the arrangement has decreased to 39 communal units (35 communes and 4 wards) - down 61% compared to the number of administrative units at the current commune level.
According to the expected plan, Ca Mau city left 4 wards with the name no longer according to the order number but wards: An Xuyen Ward, Ly Van Lam Ward, Tan Thanh Ward, Hoa Thanh Ward.
The central communes of Ca Mau province bring the names of district units such as Bat, Phu Tan, Tran Van Thoi, U Minh, Nam Can, Cai Nuoc, Thoi Binh. Particularly, Ngoc Hien district now has Phan Ngoc Hien commune, no commune -level unit named Ngoc Hien.
According to the leader of Ca Mau province, Phan Ngoc Hien is the name of the historical figure, so the administrative unit should be in the right name, the name instead of Ngoc Hien as before.
Ca Mau province does not have any ward or commune named Ca Mau by Resolution No. 60 -NQ/TW, dated 12.4.2025 The 11th Conference of the 11th Central Committee of the Party Central Committee, Ca Mau merged with Bac Lieu, named Ca Mau Ca Mau Center - Political Center located in Ca Mau Province today.
Ca Mau also developed an expected plan, the roadmap for arranging cadres, working offices, and expected new commune administrative units to get comments as prescribed.
