"Running means the whole line must run"
On December 3, General Secretary To Lam and delegates of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation (Election Unit No. 1) met with voters of Hai Ba Trung, Ba Dinh and Dong Da districts (Election Unit No. 1) to report on the results of the 8th Session of the 15th National Assembly.
Attending the meeting with voters were Politburo member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation Bui Thi Minh Hoai; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc.
At the meeting, voters made recommendations and proposals related to issues of concern, such as the arrangement of administrative units at district and commune levels; promoting the country's economic development potential; promoting administrative reform; digital transformation; suspended planning; preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity.
Speaking to voters, General Secretary To Lam said that 2024 is a year that will mark many milestones in the country's construction and development. This is a year when the country will have strong and positive movements, creating a new wind in most activities of social life.
Referring to streamlining the political system's organizational apparatus, the General Secretary said this is not a new requirement and many Congresses have pointed out these shortcomings. However, it may be due to reasons and conditions that it has not been implemented.
“Now is the time, now is the opportunity, if we want to develop, we must become lighter to fly higher. This is a very difficult task, touching the thoughts, feelings, rights, interests, and daily lives of cadres and Party members,” the General Secretary acknowledged.
The General Secretary said that the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Executive Committee decided to summarize the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW and highly agreed on the plan to streamline the organization of the political system. Accordingly, research will be conducted to rearrange and restructure a number of Party Committees, a number of Government Ministries, a number of National Assembly Committees, and a number of organizations of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The goal is to complete the plans to rearrange and consolidate the organization of the political system in the first quarter of 2025.
The General Secretary also emphasized the top-down approach, with the motto "The Central Government sets an example, the localities respond", the spirit of "running while lining up". In which "running means the whole line must run, not in a chaotic manner, not waiting for anyone".
Disciplined 52 officials under the management of the Politburo and Secretariat
Regarding the work of preventing and combating corruption, negativity and waste, General Secretary To Lam said that it will continue to be carried out resolutely and thoroughly. Especially after the Politburo and the Secretariat decided to add anti-waste content to the tasks of the Central Steering Committee on preventing and combating corruption and negativity.
“This work must be done without stopping, without any forbidden areas or exceptions, to organize a truly clean and strong political system, truly of the people, by the people, for the people; civil servants and public employees must truly be servants of the people,” the General Secretary affirmed.

According to the General Secretary, recently, the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Executive Committee have disciplined 6 officials under the management of the Politburo and the Secretariat, bringing the total number of senior officials disciplined since the beginning of the year to 52. Of these, 48 officials were disciplined in connection with cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption, Wastefulness, and Negativity. Recently, for the first time, disciplinary agencies issued warnings to key Party officials.
Prosecution agencies nationwide have prosecuted and investigated 1,681 defendants, prosecuted 1,479 defendants, and tried 2,703 defendants at first instance for corruption, economic crimes, and crimes related to positions, including 3 defendants who are high-ranking officials under the management of the Politburo and Secretariat.
