Focus on stretching yourself, running fast to catch up with the world
On the morning of December 3, General Secretary To Lam and National Assembly deputies of Hanoi met with voters in Ba Dinh, Dong Da and Hai Ba Trung districts.
At the meeting with voters, summarizing the recent socio-economic situation, General Secretary To Lam acknowledged that there is still much to do better because countries around the world are developing very quickly.
"We just need to go slowly, calmly, and be happy with the results, as the late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said, "resting on your laurels is not good". People with potential, going faster, applying the progress of the times, science, technology... will leave us far behind. More than ever, we must focus on reaching out and running really fast to catch up with the world," said the General Secretary.

To bring the country into an era of development and prosperity, General Secretary To Lam said that the Central Executive Committee has outlined a number of very urgent tasks and directed them very focusedly and consistently, receiving the consensus of the people.
Referring to streamlining the political system's organizational apparatus, the General Secretary said this is not a new requirement and many Congresses have pointed out these shortcomings. However, it may be due to reasons and conditions that it has not been implemented.
"Now is the time, now is the opportunity, if we want to develop, we must become lighter to fly high. This is a very difficult task, touching the thoughts, feelings, rights, interests, and daily lives of cadres and Party members," the General Secretary acknowledged.
From there, General Secretary To Lam raised the issue that we must overcome ourselves, see the benefits for the country, the nation, the people, and each person needs to see if their contribution is suitable for the salary paid by the people and the Government.
"Or I stand here to receive a salary, to maintain my life. I have to see what I contribute to society, the country, the people, what I bring to the life of myself, my family, my wife and children, my parents, my relatives.
We must overcome and accept sacrifice. Sacrifice is our tradition. Sacrifice to gain glory and honor. Sacrifice personal interests for the country to develop," General Secretary To Lam expressed.
Central government sets example, local government responds
General Secretary To Lam said that the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Executive Committee decided to summarize the implementation of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW and highly agreed on the plan to streamline the organization of the political system.
Accordingly, research will be conducted to reorganize and restructure a number of Party Committees, a number of Government Ministries, a number of National Assembly Committees, and a number of organizations of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The goal is to complete the plans to reorganize and consolidate the apparatus of the political system in the first quarter of 2025.

"We evaluate whether the current apparatus is suitable, where it needs to be eliminated, where it needs to be strengthened to complete the task. Besides, what is the coordination mechanism to cut and streamline? In the first quarter of 2025, there must be a plan and arrangement to hold grassroots congresses," the General Secretary stated.
The General Secretary also emphasized the top-down approach, with the motto "The Central Government sets an example, the localities respond", the spirit of "running while lining up". In which "running means the whole line must run, not in a chaotic manner, not waiting for anyone".
