This morning (October 22), at the Presidential Palace, the Office of the President solemnly held a handover ceremony of the President's work between General Secretary To Lam and President Luong Cuong, according to VNA.
Also attending were Politburo members: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man; Politburo members, Party Central Committee Secretaries; Vice President; Deputy Prime Minister of the Government; leaders of central departments, ministries and branches.
At the ceremony, General Secretary To Lam officially handed over the duties of the President to Comrade Luong Cuong and requested the Central Office, the Office of the President, and relevant agencies, immediately after the handover ceremony, to organize and report specific work to the President; promptly review the work plan, internal and external tasks, and work activities as assigned by the Politburo, and closely coordinate to advise the President to manage the work most effectively.
General Secretary To Lam firmly believes that with his enthusiasm, high sense of responsibility and extensive working experience, President Luong Cuong will quickly approach the new job, provide close, timely and effective instructions to join the Central Executive Committee, Politburo, Secretariat, National Assembly, Government, Fatherland Front... to lead the people to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, bringing our country into a new bright and heroic era, contributing worthily to the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, President Luong Cuong expressed his emotion and honor to be recommended by the Central Executive Committee, the Politburo and General Secretary To Lam, and to be elected by the National Assembly to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; emphasizing that working in the place where beloved Uncle Ho once lived and worked is extremely sacred and a special honor.
President Luong Cuong affirmed that he will, together with the Vice President, and all officials, civil servants, and employees of the Office of the President, thoroughly grasp and resolutely organize the successful implementation of the General Secretary's direction, requirements, and wishes for the President and the Office of the President.
On this occasion, President Luong Cuong also expressed his wish that the Party Central Committee, the Politburo, the Secretariat, the Party and State leaders, ministries, departments and branches at the central and local levels, agencies and organizations will continue to support, help and create conditions for him to successfully fulfill his duties as President as he has sworn before the National Assembly, compatriots, comrades and voters nationwide.
Previously, President Luong Cuong offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh at House 67 and visited Uncle Ho's fish pond in the President Ho Chi Minh Relic Site in the Presidential Palace, where memories associated with his life are still preserved intact.
