On February 11, the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) held a conference to review preparations for the 2024 national defense review in ministries, central and local branches; review phase 1 of the Standing Militia Squadron Project; and prepare to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Militia and Self-Defense Forces.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army - chaired the conference.
At the conference, delegates watched a video illustrating the conference summarizing national defense work in ministries, central and local branches; the conference summarizing phase 1 of the project on the Standing Militia Fleet; and listened to reports on preparations for the 90th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Militia and Self-Defense Force.
After listening to the delegates' comments, Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc requested the Militia and Self-Defense Department to coordinate in reviewing the reports at the conferences closely and seriously, and to edit the detailed and accurate content before submitting them to the head of the Ministry of National Defense.
Regarding the content of preparations for the 90th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Militia and Self-Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc emphasized that the Militia and Self-Defense Forces are a component of the people's armed forces.
Building a strong, widespread, high-quality militia and self-defense force is the strategic policy of the Party; it is the responsibility of the entire political system and the entire people, in order to consolidate and strengthen military and defense strength, meeting the requirements of the task of building and firmly protecting the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam. The 90th anniversary of the militia and self-defense force's traditional day needs to be organized thoughtfully and appropriately.
Therefore, Lieutenant General Nguyen Quang Ngoc requested the Militia and Self-Defense Department to actively speed up preparations for the Anniversary Ceremony; assign specific tasks to each group and individual in charge of specific parts of the anniversary ceremony; organize thorough rehearsals of each stage and step to ensure the successful organization of the ceremony.
