General Secretary and President To Lam meets the King of Cambodia

General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his joy at the achievements of the good neighborly relationship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that on October 5, 2024, on the occasion of attending the 19th Summit of the Francophone Community in Paris, France, General Secretary and President To Lam met with Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni.

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of King Norodom Sihamoni's coronation (October 29, 2024), the General Secretary and President congratulated Cambodia on the great and proud achievements it has achieved in the past 20 years under the wise reign of the King; believing that Cambodia will continue to achieve more important and comprehensive achievements, the people's lives will increasingly improve, and Cambodia's international role and position will be increasingly enhanced.

The General Secretary and President congratulated Cambodia on being chosen to host the 20th Summit of the Francophone Community in 2026; believed that under Cambodia's leadership, the Francophone Community will develop further and affirmed that Vietnam will support Cambodia in successfully organizing this important event.

The General Secretary and President highly appreciated Cambodia's visit and support in helping the Vietnamese people overcome the consequences of Typhoon Yagi; emphasized that Vietnam always treasures the historical value of the Vietnam-Cambodia relationship and the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam relationship; and will continue to coordinate with Cambodia and Laos to make the three countries' cooperation increasingly substantive and effective, meeting the practical requirements of all three countries.

King Norodom Sihamoni expressed his great emotion and honor to meet the General Secretary and President again; conveyed the Queen Mother's regards and best wishes for health to the General Secretary and President; and thanked Vietnam for its support and steadfast trust in Cambodia on the path of socio-economic, cultural, educational, scientific and technological development...

The two leaders expressed their delight at the achievements of the good neighborly relations, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, and long-term sustainability between Vietnam and Cambodia in recent times, and hoped that future generations of leaders would continue that tradition, continue to nurture and promote the relationship in accordance with the needs in the new development stage.
