This morning (December 4), in Hanoi, the Vietnam Veterans Association organized the 7th National Patriotic Emulation Congress "Exemplary Veterans", period 2024-2029; celebrated the 35th anniversary of the Vietnam Veterans Association's Traditional Day (December 6, 1989 - December 6, 2024) and received the First Class Labor Medal.

Attending the Congress were Politburo members: Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; General Phan Van Giang - Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense. Also attending were Secretaries of the Party Central Committee: Nguyen Duy Ngoc - Chief of the Party Central Office; Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet - Standing Member of the Central Military Commission, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army.
Also attending were Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Quang Phuong; members of the Party Central Committee, representatives of leaders of ministries, branches, central and city organizations; Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, Labor Heroes in the renovation period and 493 delegates who are outstanding and typical advanced models, representing thousands of typical collectives and tens of thousands of advanced individuals in the patriotic emulation movement "Exemplary Veterans".

The Congress is an event marking a new development step based on continuing and promoting the good traditions and achievements and results achieved over the past 35 years of the Vietnam Veterans Association. This is also an opportunity to commend and honor collectives, individuals, typical examples, and outstanding factors in the national "Exemplary Veterans" movement; to encourage and motivate all levels of the association and veteran cadres and members to excellently complete their tasks.

In his opening speech, Senior Lieutenant General Be Xuan Truong - Chairman of the Vietnam Veterans Association - said that 35 years ago, to meet the revolutionary tasks in the new period, on December 6, 1989, the Politburo and the Party Central Committee (term VI) issued a decision to establish the Vietnam Veterans Association.
The President of the Vietnam Veterans Association affirmed that after 35 years of establishment and development, the Association has made steady progress, successfully completing the political tasks entrusted by the Party, the State and the people. The Association's organizations at all levels have been consolidated and developed in both quantity and quality. Currently, there are over 3 million members active in more than 13,600 grassroots organizations of the Association.

The qualities, loyalty and steadfastness of revolutionary soldiers born from the people and fighting for the people have crystallized into the proud achievements of generations of cadres and members of the Vietnam Veterans Association, building the tradition of "Loyalty, solidarity, exemplary, innovative", excellently completing all assigned tasks.
With its achievements over the past 35 years, the Vietnam Veterans Association has been honored by the State with the Ho Chi Minh Medal, the First Class Independence Medal and many other noble awards.
There have been 24 individuals honored with the title of Labor Hero in the renovation period, hundreds of collectives and thousands of individuals have been awarded medals by the State, and commended by the Prime Minister, ministries, branches, and authorities at all levels.
