On the afternoon of November 12, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam met with King Jordan Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein on the occasion of the King's official visit to Vietnam.
According to VNA, General Secretary To Lam welcomed King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein to visit Vietnam, emphasizing that the first heads-up visit between Vietnam and Jordan took place at a very important time, on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations (1980-2025).
Appreciating the substantial results of the talks between King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein and Politburo member and President Luong Cuong, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam and Jordan have great potential to further promote the effectiveness of cooperation not only for the benefit of the people of the two countries but also for the benefit of the ASEAN region and the Middle East.
General Secretary To Lam affirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to strengthening relations with Middle Eastern countries, including Jordan, a country with a very important position in the region.
General Secretary To Lam said that with similarities in policies of peace, independence, self-reliance, and cooperation for mutual development, Vietnam and Jordan will become trusted partners in the two regions, promoting each other's strengths to jointly make breakthroughs in the development cause, for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
General Secretary To Lam also welcomed Jordan's sending of a large-scale business delegation to accompany the King during this visit, contributing to improving the overall effectiveness of the visit.
King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein affirmed that he highly values his visit to Vietnam this time, agreeing with General Secretary To Lam's assessment of the importance of the current period for the development of the two countries and two peoples.
Informing General Secretary To Lam about the specific and substantial results during the talks with President Luong Cuong, King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein affirmed that Jordan wishes to promote comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam, especially cooperation between the private sector of the two sides.
In addition, the King hopes that the two sides will further strengthen political trust, expand cooperation in defense and security, share experiences and learn from each other in science and technology, and promote people-to-people exchanges to further enhance understanding between the two peoples. On this occasion, the King of Jordan invited Vietnam to attend the International Conference on Food Security Assurance that Jordan is about to organize in the coming time.
Regarding major orientations for bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Jordan in the coming time, General Secretary To Lam and King Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein agreed that in the context of the complicated developments in the world and the region, Vietnam and Jordan need to promote cooperation to respond to new challenges.
The two leaders also agreed on a number of specific measures that need to be implemented such as politics - diplomacy, national defense - security, promoting and creating breakthroughs in economic, trade and investment cooperation, especially in the fields of agriculture, healthcare and medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, energy, tourism, etc.; promoting cooperation and mutual support in multilateral forums, especially the United Nations, ASEAN and regional organizations in the Middle East.
