Within the framework of the state visit of the Republic of Belarus from May 11-12, on the morning of May 12 local time, General Secretary To Lam and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, met with officials and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus, representing the Vietnamese community living, studying and working in Belarus.
According to VNA, on behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam sent warm and affectionate greetings from his homeland to all officials of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Belarus, and said that this visit to Belarus aims to affirm Vietnam's interest and promote cooperation with the traditional friend country of the former Soviet Union that has had a lot of attachment and support for Vietnam; at the same time, promote cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
Regarding the Vietnam - Belarus relationship, the General Secretary affirmed that the two countries have a long-standing traditional friendship, which has been close since the former Soviet era.
Many Belarusese experts have participated in supporting Vietnam during the resistance war against the US. Many Vietnamese students and graduate students have studied in Belarus and have made many important contributions to the development of Vietnam.
The two sides maintain close cooperation in important areas such as politics - diplomacy, security - defense; cooperation in the fields of science - technology, education - training, culture - sports - tourism, transportation, health. Local cooperation has been maintained positively.
The General Secretary was pleased to see that the Vietnamese community in Belarus, although not large, is successful and includes each other. Some Vietnamese enterprises in Belarus have invested domestically and the community has gradually affirmed their position in the locality.
The General Secretary believes that the Vietnamese community in Belarus will always promote the tradition of Lac and Hong, unite and join hands to build a united community, develop and build Vietnam to become increasingly rich.
Praising the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus tries to successfully complete the task, making an important contribution to nurturing the cooperation between the two countries, the General Secretary suggested that the Embassy must be a warm house of the people, continue to pay attention and do better in the work of overseas Vietnamese in the spirit of the Party's instructions and resolutions, considering this as an important task to achieve the country's development goals.
On this occasion, the General Secretary wished all staff of the Embassy and the Vietnamese community in Belarus good health, happiness and success; hoped that the people would always uphold the tradition of patriotism, join hands for a strong and prosperous developed Vietnam.
