General Secretary To Lam assessed that cooperation between the two countries' Public Security Ministries deserves to be one of the pillars in Vietnam - Laos relations.

On January 12, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received a high-ranking delegation from the Lao Ministry of Public Security led by General Vilay Lakhamphong - Politburo member, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Public Security of Laos, who is on a working visit to Vietnam.

According to VNA, General Secretary To Lam highly appreciated the significance of comrade Vilay Lakhamphong's visit, contributing to concretizing the high-level agreement on security and defense cooperation between the two countries, further deepening the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his delight at the positive development of the Vietnam-Laos relationship, including the important contributions of the security forces of the two countries; affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and gives the highest priority to consolidating and strengthening the special solidarity relationship between Vietnam and Laos, considering this a strategic task of vital significance to the development of each country; emphasized that Vietnam consistently supports Laos' development, is ready to share experiences with Laos in all fields, and that Vietnam and Laos will firmly hold hands and develop together.

The General Secretary highly appreciated the close and effective cooperation between the two countries' Public Security Ministries, which is worthy of being one of the pillars in the relationship between the two countries, contributing to maintaining security, social order and safety in each country.

The General Secretary suggested that in the coming time, the Public Security Ministries of the two countries should continue to promote good traditions, increase mutual support and assistance, closely coordinate, enhance information exchange and working experience, grasp the situation, and effectively coordinate in the fight against sabotage activities of hostile forces; closely cooperate in preventing and combating peaceful evolution, violent overthrow, preventing and combating transnational crimes, especially drug crimes... to ensure security, order and build a peaceful, stable and developing border between the two countries; the two sides are determined and persistent in not allowing hostile forces to take advantage of the territory of one country to sabotage the other.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam conveyed his warm regards and best wishes to General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith and senior leaders of Laos.

General Vilay Lakhamphong sincerely thanked Vietnam for the great, timely and effective support and assistance that Vietnam has given to Laos so far, including helping Laos successfully organize the ASEAN and AIPA summits in 2024.

General Vilay Lakhamphong informed General Secretary To Lam about the recent situation in Laos, the implementation of the Resolution of the 11th National Congress, and the cooperation between the two Ministries of Public Security; and expressed gratitude for the positive assessments of the relationship between the two Parties and countries, and the cooperation between the two Ministries of Public Security as well as the security and defense forces of the two countries.

General Vilay Lakhamphong affirmed that the Lao Ministry of Public Security will continue to promote its tradition and closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in firmly protecting national security, maintaining social order and safety in all circumstances, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the special Laos-Vietnam relationship.
