On the afternoon of October 2, at the solemn session of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Congress of Ho Chi Minh City for the 2024-2029 term, Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen made important speeches, expressing his determination to build and develop Ho Chi Minh City in the coming time.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nen especially emphasized the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in uniting the people and mobilizing social resources to care for people's welfare.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Ho Chi Minh City has faced many difficulties in the past term, especially the COVID-19 pandemic. However, thanks to the solidarity of the whole city and the tireless efforts of the Vietnam Fatherland Front system and its member organizations, Ho Chi Minh City has overcome this challenging period.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front has demonstrated its core role in arousing creativity and dynamism, and caring for people's lives through practical and effective action programs.

The Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee emphasized that the Prime Minister recently directed that temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide must be completely eliminated by December 31, 2025. Ho Chi Minh City needs to consider and set a goal to do it faster, ensuring the earliest possible results.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City also needs to take the lead in continuing to effectively implement campaigns directly related to social security, social housing issues, workers' accommodation, and housing along canals.

Continue to promote volunteer activities, care for vulnerable groups such as the poor, children in difficult circumstances, lonely elderly people, autistic children, people with psychological problems, helping them not feel abandoned.

Mr. Nguyen Van Nen also emphasized the need to build a team of dedicated, responsible and experienced frontline cadres.

He requested the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to pay attention to administrative reform, digital transformation, and streamlining the organizational structure towards being lean but effective. The staff needs to be focused on developing, especially female staff and ethnic minority staff.

Innovation in working methods, promoting democratic rights

Speaking at the Congress, Politburo member, Party Central Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien - requested the Ho Chi Minh City Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to continue to innovate its thinking and methods of operation.

Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien emphasized that the Ho Chi Minh City Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front needs to promote the application of information technology to adapt to the digital society, while promoting the people's mastery with the motto "people know, people discuss, people do, people check, people supervise, people benefit".

Enhance social supervision and contribute to building a clean and strong Party, government and State, while actively participating in preventing and combating corruption.

"The Vietnam Fatherland Front does not directly make money or build modern, massive projects, but with the leadership of the Party, the Vietnam Fatherland Front as the core will create the strength of the people's hearts.
