On the morning of August 6, General Secretary To Lam and Party and State leaders met with intellectuals, scientists, and artists. This is one of the activities towards the 80th Anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).
Speaking at the meeting, on behalf of the Party, State and people, the General Secretary commended, acknowledged, expressed gratitude and hoped for the great contributions of intellectuals, scientists and artists throughout the history of the nation, especially since the Party and Uncle Ho led our country and our nation.
At the meeting, the General Secretary informed about the country's situation, especially the striving to successfully implement the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party and prepare well to successfully organize the 14th National Congress of the Party, ensuring the successful implementation of the two 100-year goals set by the Party: strive to become a developing country with modern industry and high average income by 2030; by 2045, become a developed country with high income; listen to the comments of intellectuals, scientists and artists.
The General Secretary emphasized that in a turbulent world, maintaining the current goal of: Maintaining peace and stability; rapid and sustainable development; further improving the material and spiritual life of the people is a very high and urgent requirement. To achieve this goal, the entire political system must take drastic action, the entire population needs to respond strongly, in which the joint efforts of intellectuals, scientists and artists are needed.
The General Secretary stated that we are living in an era where knowledge is the most important resource for development, the "new energy" of the 21st century. The fourth industrial revolution, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, renewable energy... are profoundly changing all aspects of social life. If we do not adapt, accept and master in time, we will fall behind.
Therefore, more than ever, the role of scientists, intellectuals, artists, those who light the beacon of knowledge and creativity becomes more central. You are not only "soul engineers", "architects of the future", those who demonstrate "Vietnamese people's potential" but also those who keep the fire burning, spreading Vietnamese values, Vietnamese spirit, Vietnamese identity in a competitive and moving world.
To realize the aspiration for national development, the General Secretary requested the team of intellectuals, scientists, and artists to accompany the Party and the people, maximize revolutionary intelligence, qualities, and patriotism to research, create, and contribute to the country's rapid and sustainable development; focus on key areas such as science and technology, education - training, healthcare, high-tech agriculture, digital economy, digital society, green energy transition, and circular economy.
Affirming that the Party and State always care about and create conditions for intellectuals, scientists, and artists to promote their talents, creativity, and contribute to the country, the General Secretary believes that the Vietnamese intellectuals, scientists, and artists will continue to be a pioneer force, a flame that opens the way for our nation to move forward strongly, firmly, and confidently into the future.
