On the afternoon of July 20, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission as Head of the working delegation visited and worked in Tho Chau Special Zone, An Giang province.
The delegation offered incense to commemorate Uncle Ho and the heroes and martyrs at Tho Chau Temple; surveyed and inspected the Tho Chau Special Zone Public Administration Service Center; the living and working conditions of special forces cadres and civil servants; worked with the Standing Committee of the Special Zone Party Committee and Tho Chau Border Guard Station; visited and presented gifts to families with preferential policies and meritorious people.
Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Mung said that currently, travel from the mainland to Tho Chau Special Zone is still limited, with only one ship per week. This greatly affects the lives of people, especially officers, soldiers and students. High school students have to travel to Phu Quoc or Rach Gia to study, causing many difficulties for them and their families.
The Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee hopes that central departments, ministries and branches will pay more attention to supporting, consulting and investing more in Tho Chau Special Zone, contributing to improving traffic, improving the quality of life of people and learning conditions for students. In addition, the issue of waste and wastewater treatment on the island also needs to have a suitable plan to protect the island's ecological environment.

Speaking at the working session with the Standing Committee of the Tho Chau Special Zone Party Committee, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia highly appreciated the efforts of the special zone and effectively carried out the assigned tasks. Many cadres from the mainland have volunteered to work on the island, ready to sacrifice personal interests to contribute, contributing to creating a spirit of solidarity and unity in the local political system.
In the coming time, Tho Chau Special Zone will continue to focus on leading and directing the serious, synchronous and effective implementation of the Central Resolutions. It is necessary to proactively carry out tasks within the scope of authority. For issues beyond the authority, promptly report and recommend to be considered and resolved, ensuring the local government apparatus operates more and more effectively, doing a good job of planning and developing the socio-economy.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that the Central Government directs to continue to clearly identify difficulties and obstacles that need to be resolved, further promoting the spirit of solidarity and joint efforts of the entire people, including the armed forces performing tasks in border areas and islands - especially in special zones.
For Tho Chau Special Zone, Mr. Nguyen Trong Nghia assessed this as a frontline location with special strategic significance in terms of national defense and security. The mission of protecting independence, unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity poses a very glorious requirement for the forces on duty here.

Mr. Nghia hopes that cadres, soldiers and people will continue to maintain, spread the spirit of solidarity, firmly protect sovereignty, and protect each sacred island of the country.
On this occasion, the working group presented gifts to 4 policy families and meritorious people in Tho Chau Special Zone and 350 million VND to the fund for the poor of the special zone.
