On the morning of May 6, Politburo member and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired the regular Government meeting in April 2025.
According to the meeting agenda, the Government will focus on discussing the socio-economic situation in April and the first 4 months of 2025 and key tasks and solutions for May, until the end of the second quarter of 2025 and the coming time.
In his opening speech, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that we have just gone through the historic April days with the spirit of "fast and bold", implementing well, completing many tasks with large volumes, especially carefully and successfully organizing a series of events to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, national reunification, inauguration and groundbreaking of 80 large projects and works across the country;
Prepare well the contents to serve the Central Conference and National Assembly Session (with the largest number of draft laws and resolutions in a National Assembly session); resolutely reorganize the apparatus from the Central to local levels, and organize local government at 2 levels.
Promote economic growth to 8% or more and respond to the new US tax policy; submit to the Politburo for consideration and approval very promptly Resolution No. 66-NQ/TW on innovation in law-making and enforcement, Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW on private economic development; serve and implement high-level foreign affairs activities, successfully organize many important multilateral forums; complete regular work and tasks.
According to the report at the meeting, in April and the first 4 months of the year, the world situation continued to develop very complicatedly and unpredictably; the risk of risks and instability increased. International organizations have simultaneously lowered their global growth forecasts for 2025.
In the country, the Government and the Prime Minister focus on directing all levels, sectors and localities to resolutely and synchronously implement the tasks and solutions set out.
The socio-economic situation in April and the first 4 months of the year continued to be positive, the month after month was better than the previous month, the 4 months were generally better than the same period in 2024 in most areas.
Notably, the macro economy is stable, inflation is controlled, growth is promoted, major balances of the economy are guaranteed; all three areas of agriculture, industry and services are developing positively.
Cultural and social fields are focused on; social security is ensured; the material and spiritual life of the people is improved.
Political - social stability; national defense, security, social order and safety are consolidated and enhanced; foreign affairs are promoted.
However, the economy still has shortcomings and difficulties, challenges, notably the pressure to direct macroeconomic management, production and business in many difficult areas, administrative procedures in some places are still cumbersome, decentralization and delegation of power are not thorough, and development is still hindered, the problems of counterfeit goods, fake drugs, fake milk, drugs, cyber security... are still facing many challenges.
