On April 18, Ms. Nguyen Hong Phuong - Chief Justice of Tran Yen District People's Court, Yen Bai Province confirmed the information: the agency is handling the construction contract dispute case between VEC and Phu Thinh Phu Tho Joint Stock Company, the investor of Km117+500 rest stop on Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway.
According to Ms. Phuong, due to many unsuccessful efforts to mediate, the People's Court of Tran Yen district plans to bring the case to trial in May 2025.
Meanwhile, responding to Lao Dong Newspaper, VEC representative said that - Phu Thinh Phu Tho Company Limited - Km117+500 rest stop violated the provisions of the signed Contract such as: Construction of the project did not comply with the original design; business cooperation with a third party but has not been approved by VEC; environmental sanitation and traffic safety in the rest stop area have not been guaranteed...
It is known that in addition to Phu Thinh Phu Tho Company Limited (Km117+500), VEC also sued 3 other resort investors on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway, including: Phuoc An Company Limited (Km22+900); Tuan Tu Phu Tho Company Limited (Km57+500) and 27/7 Thanh Xuan Joint Stock Company (Km171+500).
Currently, VEC is requiring 4 investors of rest stops on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai route to terminate their operations to return/ hand over the site. However, the business disputes between the parties are still taking place.
"Before filing the lawsuit, VEC has repeatedly invited investors at rest stops on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai route to negotiate contracts. However, because the parties could not reach an agreement, VEC was forced to use the final legal measure of filing a lawsuit," VEC representative informed.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that many rest stops on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway still maintain the placement of "lift support boxes" in front of the restroom.
There are also staff on duty outside the restroom, if anyone does not put the money in the box, they will be reminded.
Upon receiving the information, the management and operation unit of the rest stop has placed all toll boxes in front of the restroom and requested the staff to immediately stop all activities to collect money from passengers.
