On October 31, within the framework of his official visit to the State of Qatar, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Chairman of the Qatari Parliament Hassan bin Abdulla Al-Ghanim.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the Qatari Parliament Hassan bin Abdulla Al-Ghanim affirmed that the Qatari Parliament wishes to promote cooperation with the Vietnamese National Assembly to support the two governments in effectively and substantially implementing commitments and cooperation plans for the benefit of the people of the two countries.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the cooperative relationship between the two countries has developed rapidly over the past 30 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations with many positive results such as deeper political trust, greater growth in economic, trade and investment relations and increased mutual support at multilateral forums.
However, the Prime Minister said that the two sides still have a lot of potential to further promote bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of economics, trade, investment, energy and agriculture, commensurate with the good political relations and potential and advantages of each country.
Emphasizing Qatar's proud achievements in economic development, as well as its success in hosting the World Cup (2022 World Cup) and the recent Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit, the Prime Minister said that Vietnam can learn a lot from Qatar in terms of thinking, vision and measures to build and develop the country.
To further develop the Vietnam-Qatar friendship and cooperation for the benefit, prosperity and happiness of the people of the two countries in the coming time, the two leaders agreed to further promote the role of parliamentary diplomacy, strengthen cooperation between the two countries' National Assemblies through promoting the exchange of delegations of National Assembly leaders, leaders of specialized committees of the two legislative bodies to share legislative and supervisory experiences; continue to closely coordinate between the two countries' National Assemblies, promote cooperation between the Arab Parliamentary Group and the Asian Parliamentary Group at multilateral multi-parliamentary forums such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), and promote exchanges between young parliamentarians and female parliamentarians.
The Speaker of the Qatari Parliament suggested that the two sides soon establish a Friendship Parliamentarians' Association to regularly exchange views and propose measures to enhance parliamentary cooperation between the two countries; and hoped that the two parliaments would coordinate in supporting the just struggle of the Palestinian people and the two-state solution.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that the National Assemblies of the two countries coordinate closely, support the effective implementation of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, promote the upgrading of bilateral relations to a new level; prioritize economic, trade, investment, energy cooperation, etc.; perfect policies and agreements, especially the Free Trade Agreement, to help strengthen cooperation between businesses and connect people of the two countries.
